Was in Dulac last Thurs/Fri. Went out to the backside of the islands and only picked up 3 trout. Picked up our limit of bull reds and threw a bunch more back...big black drum were out there as well. Only caught one redfish under 27". Good luck.

Sounds like this might be the best plan for some fun, although wind showing 10-12 mph for tomorrow and Saturday.

What's for bait?

I need to know how that pond is looking next door. It's about time to go pull some tails out of there with the yak.

We caught like 5 reds in a few minutes at the mouth of that pond where it spills into the ship channel 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Dang. Guess the winds will be 13 SSE when I go on Sunday. Not ideal but it's doable. Ill try to get in dead end canals and hope for the best.

Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like my plan will be to launch my boat at Jugs early AM (5 am) and head to SE of Grand Bayou Cailou Pass and try to fish the islands there before wind starts to kick up.

Then go back up north to sister lake to fish the islands and oyster reef because I see the tide reporting rising tide.

Good plan? This is just my 3rd time fishing the Dularge area.

Maybe, but it is muddy over there.

Probably better doing this all day a sister lake usually stays clean year round. With all the winds, not much is clean. Who knows?--certainly not me!

Caught 8 trout and 2 reds in some duck ponds yesterday. Water was chocolate milk everywhere else I went. Tide went out until around 1-130 then the bite died.

Yeah. I was going to attack the oyster reef and the duck ponds in Sister Lake and Lake Mercant when the tide was going to start go up.

I just wanted to try to catch bigger fishes down at the pass in early AM when there's little wind. Would you do it if you had the opportunity?

Not a bad idea if you can find some decent water.

I'd call a charter and have them take me. I suck at fishing this time of year.

I fished all over grand pass, pelican lake, west end of last island, sulphur mine, islands around Houma nav at terrebonne bay, islands at seabreeze pass, islands in north barre.

Caught 2 trout at the sulphur mine. Had several rogue redfish but wasn't too interested in catching them. I haven't fished much this time if year... But I can usually find something. Not today. Wind was down, but water was dirty everywhere except on the outside. Good luck and let us know how you do

I hate this time of year for trout in our area, which is why I usually am bass fishing all of march and April.

Unless you're at big lake march and April trout fishing sucks (for me)

I'm with you. Every year I get the itch to get out there to catch them, and every year I'm quickly reminded how terrible it is. Oh well.... It was a beautiful day and I was fishing.
