Sounds like somebody has a case of the butt hurt.

In the Miami-area there are more storage marinas than boat ramps. The boats are brought down to the water by forklift and launched, then recovered at the end of the day and put away. I think the same principle would work at ramps....how many times have you been behind the guy who knows everything about boats, yet sits at the ramp doing last minute prep while others have to wait? This would go away if valet service was offered.

How many of yall would pay $13-15 for someone to back YOUR boat and trailer into the water.

My vote is a profound NO.

No. Nobody is backing my boat. I get to fishing during the week so I miss all the weekend warriors. Only time I go on the weekend is when my wife wants to go. Other than that, I ain't going put up with that mess.

the problem is people blocking the landing that are not ready to launch...that aggravates the hell outta me...on the other side of that is people cutting in and launching in front of others because they feel entitled for some reason...see this a lot in the spillway...during crawfish season...

People bitch about tournament fisherman on forums a lot, but fishing a few circuits will show people how it's done.

In line, get your shite in the boat, plug in, straps off, transom saver stored etc.

Hell, we often just backed our shite in the water and let it bob around until someone could carry us out to it.

I've seen that with crawfishermen letting their skiffs float off at the Pigeon Landing but not with tournament rigs. I'd love to see a 45k Phoenix just floating off.

I fish weekdays only and never encounter the yahoo's you speak of. I can see where fish cleaning and washing down the boat would be worth 30-40 bucks if you could do it in a timely manner .

That's the way the BASS pros do it as well...

Back their boats with no one holding the bow line and just ask some of the other guys to get their boat....

It must be nice to have someone else pay for your boat...

It's not like we were ever launching into a raging current. Even on the Red, the landings have lots of protected water.

Not any more. The winch broke about 6 months ago and the owner told me they won't be replacing it due to cost of repairs and insurance. It sucks, that was nice.

I been to sweet water marina with my elderly father who needed help getting in the boat. I paid $20
and guy backed my truck up while I was in the boat with my father. I rarely go down to delicroix due to lack of time but when I go back they will get my business.

As far as backing in no big issue if I am by myself. I know my trailer.

some issues are people that cannot back up a boat. I try to offer help or show them how to back a boat in.

The pricks are the one blocking the landing while preparing their boat to launch or load up. The respectful thing to do is to prepare your boat in an area not blocking the ramp. Simple but some people don't care. They are the same ones that complain when they have a line at the landing due to people doing the same thing they do.

As far as launching at bayou pigeon it can get busy. I typically go either early before the sport fishing crowd and commercial fishing crowd or after the crowd. At times I go to sorrel and just make the run to piegeon.

Spring I get on water by 5:15-5:30 am or after 7:15. If you go around 7:30 most the crowds with sport guys and commercial guys are on the water.

Coming in I try to come in right before lunch for a short trip or after lunch. Especially in Friday you have mid day crowd that gets off early and hits the water around noon.

I fish sometimes with a guy who's a little slow at the ramp. He insists on backing in, and refuses to either get in the boat, let me get in the boat or let me back in. He must back down, then I tie the boat (out of the way, usually our ramp is slow and no one is there, thank god). Then he spends 10 minutes parking, getting his shite together, then usually gets halfway to the dock, and goes back to the truck because he forgot his glasses or wanted to check it's locked.

On pick up, though, he lets me drive the boat on. (he used to insist on cranking it all the way up by hand). But, he cannot see his trailer behind the truck when the boat isn't on it, so he ends up zig zagging down the ramp. And, he has no clue as to how far to back down the empty trailer. Every single fricking time, I have to yell at him to stop, then insist that he pull up a few feet after he sinks the forward bunks completely.

I have tried thousands of times to tell him how this all should be done, but he's stubborn, and a little slow on the uptake. Now, I just try to hurry him along, stay out of others' way, smile and apologize.
