re: Delacroix Trout - stoms
You gotta go with what works. I was just curious. Way to adapt and put some fish in the boat....

re: Delacroix Trout - stoms
Hell of a catch. Way to get it done. One question: why only 6 inches under a popping cork? I've gone 16-18 in shallow ponds for reds but that's about as short a leader as I've ever used....

re: And the Outdoor Board Rages On - stoms
Most of the kids I know that went to OM and got jammed up did the CI program so I'm not surprised this guy thinks everyone automatically gets off first time. Respect for being a man & dealing with the consequences and then legally restoring your rights on the back end. ...

re: NauticStar 2110 SE - stoms
Very good point. The La habitat makes you need that versatility. Some days you need to go near offshore to islands to chase trout but still need the ability to get skinny to chase reds in the marsh. ...

re: Cancun Fishing Charter - stoms
My dad caught a 10 ft 400+ lb blue marlin in cancun by complete luck. Cheap charter that was trolling not very far out and they were catching blackfin tuna. He caught a small one and asked the guide if he could hook it and throw it back out. Bam, nice marlin. Was the first marlin that boat had ever ...

re: NauticStar 2110 SE - stoms
Frontiers are great boats but its weird how much of a Louisiana thing they are. Don't see many in MS and I don't know why. That said, I feel like a see a million nautic stars every time I'm in GI...

re: What fishing kayak would you get....... - stoms
If money was no issue, I'd test a PA 14. I might be headed that way but I'm very excited about my new yak. 4 years ago bought a Pelican Castaway 116, 6 months later got an ascend 128t, and over Christmas got a KC. I think the big question is what you want to do. I want to sight fish reds in skin...

re: Yak Trolling Motor Questions (Size, Battery, Rigging...) - stoms
After seeing yours and the other post about running it on the floor, I thought about using some stick-on command strip hooks on the side of the hull to get it up off the floor. That way I could try the battery out on the front and back of the boat and see what I prefer before I drill in anything. ...

re: Yak Trolling Motor Questions (Size, Battery, Rigging...) - stoms
What do you do with the wire? Do you tape it to the side of the boat so it's not in the way or loose to get snagged on something?...
Just put alligator clips on the trolling motor and connected it. Super simple and worked great
I love simple and this sounds simple. I can always internally wire if I dont like the setup. Thanks...

re: Yak Trolling Motor Questions (Size, Battery, Rigging...) - stoms
I had the same kayak. Put the battery in the back and ice chest in the front. Don't complicate/overthink things and you'll be fine.
Cool. Did you change the wires to run direct? How does that work?...

re: Yak Trolling Motor Questions (Size, Battery, Rigging...) - stoms
I haven't been to camp since late October and weather was bad so we stayed on Jourdan. Stoms Jr showed up the 27th so I'll be fishing the Rez for the foreseeable future. I'll spend the next few months setting up new sled and studying google earth. Do they launch from BSM? Is your email username at g...

re: Yak Trolling Motor Questions (Size, Battery, Rigging...) - stoms
Thanks. The blank layout really did it. Might not be the fastest or best paddle but it looks like the ultimate marsh/lake yak to me. Really excited about sight fishing reds, standing up, from a kayak...

Yak Trolling Motor Questions (Size, Battery, Rigging...) - stoms
I got a KC Kayak that I'm going to rig with a transom mount minn Kota trolling motor and I've done a lot of reading but any input would be greatly appreciated. It seems that every decision is a trade of of some sort. 1) The motor- I'm getting an Endura 30lb or 40lb thrust. One advantage of the 30...
