re: Do you post pictures of your kills on social media? - stoms
I have an and interestingly enough I have only gotten negative feedback on sharks. A few people started commenting "you're killing me w/the shark murder" and "that's an apex predator bro" and stuff like that. I responded telling these asshats that all sharks were safely returned to the water. I don'...

Good setup imo. I have two saharras that are 3 years old and going strong after numerous reds and trout. Proper maintenance and you're good. Good rod too...

re: Dandy Dozen released. - stoms
I cannot figure out why everyone is freaking out over Lashley being left off. DD is best HS players, not prospects. Lashley has started half a season on the OL in his career. Nothing he's done on the field validates DD. you could make a good argument that he's the best prospect in MS but that's not ...

re: Anyone else really feeling good about the LSU game? - stoms
I usually count lsu as an automatic loss but last year was a breakthrough. Being that it's an early game we can get them before Harris gels. By the seasons end I think lsu is going to be really really good as long as LF is healthy and Harris plays above average. ...

re: Power Pole recommendations - stoms
We got a 10 ft pp and a xi5 trolling motor. Having these 2 items are an absolute game changer. Got the 10 for the xtra reach but if we're in deep water we usually anchor with the trolling motor. I'd get the 10 if you can and id get a gps trolling motor before I got a 2nd pp...

re: Find Your Own fish!!!!!............... (Rant) - stoms
Had 2 giudes in Leeville get way too close on Sunday. Was kinda shocked a guide would come in and try to fit in off a small point and/or island. I figured if anyone knew better it was a guide. The first time it was funny though. We're fishing in this very small island and another boat watches us ...

re: How bad are Shakespeare Rod and Reels? Updated: B&T question in OP. - stoms
You can use a swivel on the Carolina. Put the weight on the main line, then tie an improved clinch to the swivel. Attach the leader line to the other end of the swivel with another improved clinch. On the end with the hook you can tie either another clinch or a palomar. (If your main line is braid ...

25-30 lb flouro leader with either a Carolina or drop shot rig weighting set-up. The only thing that leader won't be ideal for is sharks but I've landed plenty of sharks on a mono or flouro leader....

re: Recommendations on buying a new or used boat - stoms
If you're going bay boat and price isn't an issue, sure a Ranger is great but I'd go Blue Wave or Hydra Sport bay bolt. Go ahead and rig it with either an I-pilot or Xi5 and a power pole. Those are the best features you can put on a boat outside of gps/depth finder. We ended up getting a Pioneer ...

re: Recommendations on buying a new or used boat - stoms
We went from a 99 cc hydra sport to a new bay boat last year. Biggest thing is weigh what you're priorities are. We went from being primarily reef fisherman to now chasing reds in the marsh. I don't see how I deal without having a shallow draft bay boat now. It's also been surprising how similar the...

re: How bad are Shakespeare Rod and Reels? Updated: B&T question in OP. - stoms
My 2 cents: don't overthink surf or pier fishing. Depending on tide movement and waves pick your weight. I'd go 3/4 oz or 1oz if it's ripping. Throw your bait (mullet, shrimp, etc...) out and let it sit. Reel in from time to time so there isn't a ton of slack. That's about it. Relax till you get bit...

re: Kamado style grills/smokers - stoms
I can't remember the brand but I checked one out at Hotel and Restaurant Supply in Jackson while doing some commercial shopping and was extremely impressed. It was $650ish but had the heaviest lid of any cooker I've felt and that's including the BGE, Cajun cooker, and the SAMs Club one. The rep told...

re: How many rods do you fish with? - stoms
Sounds dumb but it depends how many people are on the boat. If there are 4 people, I only bring 2. If it's just me and my dad I'll bring a Carolina rig, jig, top water, and vudu under a popping cori. Cover all my bases so I can be lazy...
