I always recommend those trucks to folks looking for a used diesel, they are the class of the field in terms of long term durability. Just don't let knuckleheads work on them.

As far as OG's review, I found it to be a poor practice to disagree with a man that has access to a wood chipper .

GM needs to rework the damn 5.3 to better compete with Fords engines.

Saying that I bought 2013 Sierra in Jan however I was going for reliability.

When compared to my last truck (Tundra), there is a significant lack of power and towing capacity. IMO The ride is not as good as the Tundra. The cab isn't as big vs. the crew max Tundra. Seats aren't as comfortable (personal preference). It feels more like a truck whereas the Tundra felt more like a car, this is probably something I'll get used to but I had several Tundras in a row and have gotten accustomed to them. I think the Chevy is a nice looking truck and it gets better gas mileage. The only things I didn't like about the Tundra was the piss poor gas mileage and it wasn't the best off road truck because of how heavy it was. I buried that thing more than I like to admit.

One thing I don't understand is obnoxiously big trucks. I know a couple of guys whose daily drivers have 44" or 46" on them, whatever the legal limit is. fricking retarded if you ask me.

Not enough of a track record, IMO.

That said, I bought the first year of Ford's new diesel and considering how crappy their diesels were, that is a gamble right there.

It took two trucks and about 15 Mexicans to get out of that. That road is now a creek!

Go test drive one and compare. The new ram 1500's are really nice. My company bought a new silverado 1500, ram 1500 and ram 3500. The rams have a better interior, more power, and a smoother ride.

My GMC 2500 duramax is paid for and runs great. I've always had GM vehicles since I started driving in 1993. I'm not planning on getting another truck any time soon, but when I do, it will probably be a Tundra. My brother in law has a 2012 and Choirboy has a 2013 so I'll keep up with how those do. That's in addition to OG's amazing review posted earlier.

Thought you were going ford.

It will be a few years but if I had to pick today, I think it would be Tundra. I'm gonna put at least 200k on the ol Duramax.

Yeah, this is where I am too. I have a Silverado right now and it's been a pretty good truck overall, but I will likely get a Tundra next time. Toyota makes bulletproof vehicles.
