We've been killing a ton of greenheads and pintails since Thanksgiving in N Texas. Hunting has been good at a couple of spots we hunt in South Arkansas also. We have a couple of rice fields that have been absolutely covered in mallards. Where there is water and the pressure is managed well there will be birds in a dry year.

I figured someone would get a kick out of that. I had to clarify the mallard and summer french to a friend earlier. To be honest, this is the first one I ever killed. Don't see any mallards around where we hunt.

Contact the home office and have about 6000.00, with no guarantee of water.

Are you fricking kidding? Please go back to the cocksucker board and let the adults talk. This thread has nothing to do with your opinion of an area in La, and I think I can speak for everyone in here when I say we don't give a frick. Thank you for your time and effort.

whatever, dude.

This is true. We have had 3 blinds out there forever....20 years or so.....this year 1 has no water. Just part of it.

I suspect there will be a ton of blinds opening up this year, as the majority of the farm didnt have water until the 2nd split...and many still dont now.

Honey Brake Lodge....is not part of the Duck Lease. It is a guided hunt operation they run off the south side of the farm. Anyone can purchase a guided hunt.

I would have guessed a blind would cost more money there and would come with a guarantee of water. Knowing what blinds cost off Hwy 15 in Monroe area and what people pay in South Arkansas/Jones/Mer Rouge I was surprised to see only $6,000, but I guess the no water guarantee is the reason why. There's not even an option to pump and pay for the water?

for years there was......some places do get to pump.

EK's place on Hwy 15 pay $12,000 a blind....but can hunt 6-8 people, with very few regulations. LADP has more rules.....

I know two groups that have hunted in the Woodlands, one that still does and they have a 6 man pit I believe. I know some places near Jones that are cheaper and still kill birds, but I guess it's all about what else you get in the deal.
