40 acres of family land
2 tripod stands down in the woods(one on each end of property)
1 box stand on pipeline
everyone around us has brown and down philosophy. we have uninvited "guests" run dogs thru there and hunt the pipeline so we normally meat hunt when we hunt there

40 acres leased near the house
2 box stands on pipeline
1 ladder stand in woods
in the 3 years we have had this lease we have killed a nice 11 point and 2 decent 8's. Dad missed nice 10 3 times the first year.

Lease 150 acres w/ one other friend, hour NW of Katy.
We both have young kids in youth sports, so we trade any thoughts of nice deer for convenience of being close to home.
Can't wait to find something managed in South Texas when weekends are free and kids a little older.

got a trophy a while back and i'm really just in it for the fun and meat now, so it's perfect for me

just have to help with work around his place from time to time, which i enjoy

I don't deer hunt much any more but I have to say I am shocked that there aren't more public land hunters on here. Only 1 guy in 3 pages. Unless they're just not chiming in.

I hunt public only. On the rare occasion I hunt someone's lease I generally see more deer in a hunt than in a whole year of public land.

I'll hunt public but only on rare occasion. I don't like the hassle of dealing with folks and "their spot", don't like not knowing where other hunters are and hate being on a deer when green jeans decides its time to take a morning stroll and ruins your hunt. Did public for one season and said never again.

All I hunt. No food plots, no feeders, no game cams, no high fence, and no guides on ranches.

This year I hunted out of Mitchell, Oregon.

Elk season is coming up (rifle) and I'll be hunting in my back yard, figuratively.

It's all we hunt. S.E. Ak is the size of Florida and the majority is public land. The Tongass Nat. Forest is 17 million acres, and the majority is open to hunting. Lots of deer, some elk on a couple of islands. It's all done the old fashioned way, stalking game, bagging it out.

I guess that depends on how much public land is available close to your area and how many deer hunters are in there. I bought my own land 35 years ago so I wouldn't have to deal with idiots, game wardens, finding a place to hunt, etc.

My FIL leases 260 acres in MS. Im not "on" the lease but I have an open invitation.

I have a cousin with 800 acres on the MS/TN line that I also have an open invitaion to hunt. He only has 2 stands on it.

I dont deer hunt much, I have 2 kids that are pretty involved in activities so that takes away my weekends. Plus having to drive either 3 or 7 hours makes it tough to get away for the weekend.
