Also, I don't think concealed carry is at all relevant here. Would you have really been concealing at your brother's house?

It was a mistake, I ALWAYS lock my truck. I just forgot.

and no I didn't keep the shine.

I'm happy I can laugh about it now. I turned in the serial numbers so hopefully I will get my grandfathers pistol back.

I lock the truck when I'm not in it. I'm sure I forget to lock it once I'm inside it.

If I were you, I would start hitting the local Pawn Shops looking for the same make pistol. Leave your number with them in case they come across one. Lead them to believe you are looking to buy one, not confiscate a stolen one. Good luck

I cc at most all times. read the newspaper, bad things don't always happen at bad places. are theaters/schools/eating joints considered bad places?
btw, I was responding to the fellers comment, re:cc.

Seems like you did everything right.

I guess you didn't read the part about him leaving his vehicle unlocked.

pistol that my grandfather had passed down to me
Damn. That sucks.

FWIW, I never keep a weapon in a vehicle that I'm not willing to lose.

Sadly I have to learn that lesson this way.

Sounds like you did the right thing and kept a level head though I'm not sure what a CC would have done you even in this instance.

Do you people not lock your truck doors?

I don't usually.

But then I don't keep guns in my truck.

I just love the idea of you guys giving your guns away to all these criminals. Awesome.

I turned around and ran back into the house yelling for my brother. I called the cops and they came pretty quickly.

Well, the OP doesn't provide a lot of details, but I guess we can assume that he alerted everyone else in the house to the situation while securing the doors to prevent easy entry. I guess we can also assume that he then armed himself and attempted to observe the perpetrator.
Hopefully, he was able to provide LE with a better description than "a black man."

So, you're sitting at home eating breakfast with a guy uncomfortably tucked into your waistband? If you are carrying at your brother's house, why hide it? If you are cooking eggs, they be like WOOP WOOP, can you not carry visibly? If you just so happen to be a wannabe Rambo concealing in the shower, do you need a concealed permit in your own house?

This is not a concealed carry issue.
