me and deepsouthsportsman caught a few trout then went to the rigs for mangroves. I caught a 3.5 lb speck soon as we started fishing. caught a few more 2 to 3 lb trout as well all on matrix or vortex shads. trout bite ended pretty quick unfortunately.

Red River is finally down enough - last time I went it was still 6' high. Went Saturday afternoon from 1 to 5 and caught 20 white perch. Not on fire, but a decent trip.
Tried to get AlxTiger to go, but he was helping a friend. Maybe next time.

Myself and indytiger managed to pick up a few from the kayaks in Cocodrie this weekend but the bite was pretty slow.

Nice looking catch, Whodat.

Just for my ignorance, typically how long is a 3# trout? We usually measure them, but don't weigh them.

And how far out and how deep of water did you find mangrove snappers?

Thanks man, and it measured 22" the mangroves were around 13 and 14" so the trout were pretty nice. And we were about 2 miles and 40 to 50 foot of water. We went as far as 7 but found em closer. I'm gunna do it again this weekend

Where'd you go out of to get to 40-50' two miles out?

Oddly, we didn't start looking for trout till almost noon. Bite was on for us from 1:00-4:00. Caught about 65 specs.

I was in fourchon, surprisingly we went about 5 or so and it was 60',we should have fished the beach on way in. Best thing I can say for mangroves is rig hop until you find some that's what we did.

Eta....found the rig on Google earth..measured how far and it's 5 miles not 2 or 3.
