shite on their location, get those same guys in the Gulf to fight a BFT off the shelf in 3000 ft of water and it would be more interesting.. Fighting a BFT at the depth they fight them makes it way easier on the angler fighting the fish. Captain does most of the work.

Show bores me, now the guys with the harpoon are the shite because I don't know how they balance out on that catwalk and nail those fish like that.

I thought recreational fishermen could keep them off the east and west coast?

After those guys pay all expenses (fuel, tackle, boat maintenance, etc) and split up between the crew, doubt they are making a killing.

I don't particularly care for the show mainly because the production is terrible like all of NATGEO's current shitty programing. I don't have the same hatred for the guys who participate in the com BF fishery because:

I am pretty sure this:
quote:

recreational fishermen could keep them off the east and west coast

And

The regulations are are very different for BF vs ARS. The BF fishery is still a derby fishery (for now). The government is not gifting quota to these guys, they have to fish hard to get paid.

A better comparison would be Deadliest Catch, the production value is light years above anything NATGEO has done but I don't agree with the IFQ system they switched to over the traditional derby fishing. They switched to IFQ's after the first couple of seasons and all the captains were claiming it was the end of an era and acting like it was the end of the fishery. Fast forward 10 or so years and the same captains now love the quota system because it gives them an unfair advantage and creates barriers that prevent new people from entering the fishery.

In Nova Scotia they have these huge nets to harbor game fish. The BFT just rip through it and feed on the fingerlings
