I saw one work one time thats why I was interested when looking last time but went with a bag for the length constraints. What is the advantage of a stronger vacuum if just freezing extra meets and stuff? Serious question not trying to say one way is better than another.

It's pretty amazing to see how hard it hits the contents in the bag.

It really is. You can get the water inside of it boiling. They will crush cans. It's on a different level.

Thanks for the link. I can see some benefits here and there for it but mostly what I do I get by on the external. Now that combo unit would be on my radar if I was in the market again.

Life hack...this guy shows you how to use the chamber style as a external for long bags. I think he said the trick is it needs texture on both sides? Someone with a chamber style want to try this if you have some bag on a roll? Or if ya really want I can mail you some my bags are smooth on one side tho.

Foodsaver is plenty good enough for anyone buying groceries in bulk or making their own sausage, or bagging filet.

Yep, for a regular outdoorsman storing his fish and venison, it has worked out well. I like that I can cut the bags to length of the fish or backstrap.

I have a Wesson commercial grade one that i really like. This model has 2 pumps and made from stainless. It has a cooling fan and a fuse accessible from the outside. can set the vac level and also pulse it. Also has a roll holder in the back and a cutter to make your own bags.

I really like that feature on mine...the one I had before was just a small shitty sealer and it annoyed me to have to cut the bags with scissors. But i'll pre freeze liquid to vac seal with out issue...go figure

So with the VacMaster, will red fish filets on the half shell fit in that thing? I just doesn't seem big enough from the picture. But I hate my foodsaver for the moisture/sealing issues.

Depends on the model and the fish. Smaller fish it's not a problem. Bigger ones will have to have the end of the tail chopped or rolled over.

Bags can probably hold a 12" fillet or so.

Vacmaster VP215 and its not even close.

We spend all this money going catch and kill stuff, why not keep your meat as fresh as possible?

The external sealers are a real pain in the arse and dont work nearly as well.

This looks like a gamechanger. Check this out under 90$ sealer.

I have the food saver 5200. I'm certain we seal at least 300 lbs(150+ bags) of meat and at least 400 lbs (200+ bags) of fish a year. Maybe more I think i'm conservative in those estimates. Not to mention fruits and vegetables we seal. We buy mega rolls and premade bags from amazon in bulk. I have had this sealer for 6 years and it never has missed a beat. If it quit tmrw id buy the exact same one. I have had friends buy and use every brand and size under the sun and some are good and some aren't.

The food saver 4840 is decent but once the sensing light or laser on the auto start feature goes out it is not as user friendly. Have a friend that has it and has been thru two maybe even on his third. same problem with each.

I have been using the same game saver turbo plus (made by food saver) for the last 8-10 years and its still going strong. I prefer the ready made bags as they have a nice wide seal on three sides but the long rolls work ok just need to put a double seal on the ends. I paid $280 for it at academy back in the day. Not sure if this model is still made but its been a beast.
