Anyone have any luck this morning? Heard 3 different birds between 6:35ish and 7 then nothing. They were responding to crows but seems like they might not be ready just yet. Once they hit the ground it went silent. This was Holmes County, MS

If they went quiet on the ground they are likely henned up. In MO it's that way...You will have another great shot at them from 9:30 to 1pm when they ditch the hen and start cruising.

Had a Jake at 6 yards. Another hung up across a ravine, didn’t start gobbling until 11, heard a few a daybreak but they shut down quickly.

They were singing in Copiah County this morning. Couldn’t get on anything but a Jake in the AM. Headed back in for lunch. Hit the woods at 2:00 and had this handsome fella on the ground by 2:30

Nice! You’re far more persistent than I am. I’m usually out by 10 or 11 if there’s nothing going during 2nd round

Southwest Ms. Clear and still. Plenty of hawks and crows, zero gobbles.

Had some gobbles this AM in SW Ms. Couldn’t get to them. Going to head back out at 2 and see if I can’t get lucky.

Got one in the pearl river swamp in Madison county yesterday morning, and called up one for a buddy on the big black in madison county this morning. Easiest opening week I have seen. Multiple birds each time.

Might try and sneak in a hunt this afternoon if the rain stops early. I have pics from earlier this week of a gobbler strutting at 630-645 a couple days in a row.
