Yep. Schools are closed on Friday to make the trip to the camp and scout. One of the best weekends of the year

Avoyelles Parish is right behind Evangeline when it comes to squirrel hunting. The schools will be empty on Friday and the campers and trucks will be loaded and headed into the woods, myself included. Saturday I will be sitting under a pecan tree waiting on them.

I'll have Jr on the trigger for his first time so we might not be much of a threat. Even still I'll post our 8 when/if we get them. If we win we'll take Makers Mark and milk respectively.

Here in Falls County, Texas there is no closed season and no possession limit. Kill all I want. Nobody hunts them. My brothers come visit and they fill their ice chests with those "tame" squirrels.

Do they still close the schools the Friday before squirrel season? Nobody believed me when I told them how serious we were in Evangeline Parish about squirrel season.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that article at Doucet's Barber Shop.

What are some WMAs relatively close to BR that I could go kill some tree rats? I have killed a few at 3 rivers WMA (Yancy). May run there Sunday morning.

Tunica Hills is another good one (the actual WMA, not the Clarks Creek hiking trail). Just make sure to invest in some snakeproof chaps and prepare to do a bit of hiking.

I'm not taking that bet. I see squirrels all year round except when I'm hunting them. Got skunked last year.
