Who's going?

Started August 15th here in GA. Of course, they all freaking disappeared as soon as season started. In the limited woods time I've had so far, I haven't seen a single damn squirrel. Seen three deer, two rabbits, and two turkeys, and a gazillion doves though.

I got a 30 acre tract that I don't deer hunt on that is loaded. Me and the young un shoot about 20 off of it every year and leave it alone after that. It's got 2 big hickory trees rt in the middle of it that I swear every squirrel in the county feed on.

My son and I hunt a smaller piece of land and harvest 10 and leave the rest alone.

I'd go dove hunting. Give me a miniature pigeon over a rat with a fuzzy tail any day.

Season??
We have a "year-round" SEP (Squirrel Eradication Program) here in mine and my neighbors back yard. My boy's Gamo Hornet more than does the job. He's really a good shot with that gun.
Gotta keep the tree rat population controlled.
Besides, my boy loves him some squirrel and gravy anytime.

In Oklahoma the season runs from May to January, but it doesn't feel right hunting them until the first cool snap. I'm thinking about going up here Saturday just for old time's sake. I miss that.

Will sit on my back patio, drink my coffee and snipe a few at the same time. Got a shite load on my place.

I'm going bow hunting and it's gonna be tough not squirrel hunting on opening day for the first time in many years.

What are some WMAs relatively close to BR that I could go kill some tree rats? I have killed a few at 3 rivers WMA (Yancy). May run there Sunday morning.

Do they still close the schools the Friday before squirrel season? Nobody believed me when I told them how serious we were in Evangeline Parish about squirrel season.
