Copperhead was my first choice when I bought my Slayer. When I went to Pack and Paddle to buy mine, they only had one Slayer 14.5 left and it was the display. It was Lizard Lick. I really liked that color too and I've come to really love it.

At the time the only offered Copperhead, Lizard Lick, and Hidden Oak, I liked the Lizard Lick as well. I've always liked that Grey Storm color they have out now just because you don't see very many plain colors, and certainly not grey.

Doing another one of those tournaments on Wednesday too.

Lizard Lick is my favorite but I didn't want it to match my SP13 so figured I'd switch it up and go with the Copperhead.

Got some slime in my lizard lick Slayer yesterday. Reds were all over the sand flat shorelines. Wind and sun angle were perfect for a drift and caught a bunch these size and maybe even a few lower slot (texas slot). Wasn't keeping any so didn't measure.

I figured you'd have wanted matching ones . Both of those colors are pretty cool though. Next trip out I need to try out both of yours, I've never been in one. In exchange I'll let you paddle one of mine

Yeah I mean all my accessories are lime green, does this mean I have to buy a second of everything in orange to match now? Let's see how long I can control my OCD lol. Or as a friend told me recently, it actually should be called CDO so that the letters are in order.

And I want to paddle the one that makes me look like a UFO at night.

Actually, I laid out my plan a couple pages back.

I think I'm going to sell both of my kayaks and some stocks. I really really want this thing.

I also have some other stuff that I need to sell that's taking up space in my shop.

I'm not really sure. I was gonna talk to Pack and Paddle and see if they'll be carrying it. I'm sure they could order it for me though.

Massey's in Baton Rouge has one in stock in Hidden Oak. Don't quote me on this but I believe that is the only dealer in south LA that has one right now. Everything Kayak in MS had some but not sure if they sold yet or not.

It'll probably be a few months before I'm ready. But I'll keep those places in mind and call around if I have to. Or I'll shoot you an email and see if you can help me out. Thanks!

Well guys, after years of thinking about it, I've joined the yak ranks. We just booked a vacation in Mexico beach and, while researching the fishing in the area, I started thinking about how nice it would be to take a kayak. I had no plans to buy a kayak when I woke up, but a few hours later i was loading one in my truck.

It's a 12' Field and Stream Eagle Talon. I understand it's very much entry level, but it was on sale for $399 and I couldn't pass it up. It will get me on the water and that's all I want right now. The first thing I want to upgrade is the seat. Anyway, I'm hoping to go on my first yak fishing trip sometime this weekend.

It's a good entry level yak. You definitely don't want to go too crazy on your first one. Just in case you decide yak fishing isn't for you. My first one was a Pescador 12 from academy. I loved yak fishing so much, 9 months later I bought a Slayer 14.5 . I love that yak. It's been good to me for about 2 years. It's gonna be bittersweet when I sell it for a Titan.

Point is, I hope you find as much enjoyment out of it as I do.

I have a feeling I'm really going to like yak fishing. It kind of seems like the bow hunting of fishing. Plus, modding the kayak is sort of a hobby in and of itself.

This is exactly what I tell people that are looking to get a kayak. Most buy one, use it a few times, then it collects dust. A lot of people do this with a bow also. Apparently, I like to make things difficult for myself as I bow hunt all season and fish from a kayak about 75% of the time.
