Snow dusting the peaks above 4,000'. Looks, feels like fall. Upper alpine meadows are turning orange and red.

Salmon spawning out in the streams, bears feasting on the remains, tourists slowly trickling out of town. Deer and football season, it's the best time of year.

It's an awesome day. Mid 50's, bluebird sky.

Reasons I'm super happy not to live in Alaska anymore. At least you got 2-3 more days before winter.

Eh, it will be late October or early November before we see snow at sea level.

Last week we had an unexpected cool front into the 60's at night. Fishing was awesome Friday morning, even a little on the cool side. Teal season less than two weeks away, dry weather cutting down on the mosquitos, LSU in 4 days... all you gotta do now is sit back and take look around you to appreciate what your lucky arse life has presented you with.

We're all waiting for that to happen down here. Can't come soon enough after a 4 year drought.

I'm sure you have been asked a hundred times but are you from there or did you move there for views like that?

Moved from La. about 20 years ago. Felt like where I belonged, and I was right.

Depends on where you live. Our location is moderated by the ocean, rarely gets real cold. We can get a lot of snow, but the temps are usually in the 20's-30's. North of the coastal mountain ranges, it gets real cold.

You are my hero

My fiance and I have talked about doing something similar when she finishes medical school, but with her being a doctor and me having a good job we would leave an absolute ton of money on the table.

Sitka Black Tail. Really need early snow to chase them to the lower elevations. Last year it didn't happen and they stayed up in the mountains.

Depends. Doctors make a lot more up here, as do most professions.
