A guy at work said his dad was in the Air Force stationed up in colorado or somewhere around there and during the test runs one of the bombers locked on to a deer, the commanding officer told him to light it up and he did. Just so happen to have a WF agent watching the deer when he lit him up. By the time the plane landed at the base, the agent was there and told him that the pilot and officer better be out of that state by the next day or he was going to seize the plane and throw both of them in jail. Later that night they were reolcated to Mississippi.

I call shenannigans on that story. Was that guy honestly saying that there were bombers roaming around searching out random deer to "light it up"? What were the shooting it with? What weapon can lock on to a animal? Where was the deer than a wildlife agent was watching the deer? Was this on a designated range and the warden was trespassing? How did they know that the "weapon" wouldn't lose "lock" on the deer and then "lock" on the agent? How would the agent seize a plane that is already the property of the federal government? You should falcon punch that "guy at work" for telling such an unbelievable story.

in ms, if your name is in the title, you don't have to have one, i don't think. i know that's the case for residents.

I believe you have to be residing on the property. Not sure if Louisiana has this or not.

Just remember that a GW needs to meet the same requirements to search your house and car as any other LEO, unless you're in the field.

You aren't expected to know every law out there. Took me years to do that, but if people had a better understanding of their rights and the law in general we would be better off all around. Not only from a Law Enforcement standpoint, but a general public one as well.

The two encounters I've had with them were good. As long as your not doing anything illegal.

I'm sorry for you're bad experience with them. I've never had a problem with W&F.

They can search anywhere game could be hidden, which is just about anywhere! Without a warrant.

I didn't read through the entire thread so sorry if someone already pointed this out...but I'm pretty sure you still need a license to hunt your private land in MS. Your name on the title would just be the difference between having to buy a resident vs a non resident license.

ETA: Just looked it up and I stand corrected. However, it does say you have to be a resident. All non resident hunters have to purchase a license.

Depends where they are. Here, they are state troopers and have full trooper function.

If you own land in Mississippi then it's a LOT cheaper to transfer your residence there in your name get their plates and hunt for free on the land. Buying a lifetime LA fishing if you want to fish BEFORE you do that though.
