Wanting to buy a new shotgun for the upcoming duck season. I shoot a Benilli SuperNova Pump right now, but I'm looking to go to a semi. I'm really interested and have heard nothing but great things about the Beretta A400 but not exactly wanting to drop $1700-$1800 on it. Anyone have any suggestions on what you use, or should I just take the hit and get it? Thanks

Take the hit. A good gun will last a lifetime and then some

Stogers are really good guns for a really good price.

Benelli SBEII or the Beretta A400 are hard to beat.

It's suppose to be a great gun. I have no experience with it so I won't say. I have a SBE2 and a Super Vinci and I feel those two are invincible and love the way they feel and point.

I'd suggest you go and see how several feel and point to you before you make up your mind.

I'd strongly suggest you look at Beretta, Benelli, and Brownings.

I am not a fan at all of the Versa Max. It's heavy as hell compared to the 3 B's and Remington pretty much sucks since it was bought by the Freedom Group.

I have the Winchester Super X3. I really like it. They run rebates from time to time and can be had for about $950.

A300. Not fancy, but gets the job done.

If you're already leaning that way:

Man, it costs what it costs. It's a great gun - I don't have anything good to say about Beretta as a company, except I endorse their shotguns.

I mean, how much is a Benelli semi going to cost?

The Mossberg 930 is going to keep my budget recommendation.

This. I went with the SBEII (from a Supernova) because the Beretta felt like swinging a 2x4 to me. Can't go wrong with either one.

You can get a new Stoeger M3500 in camo for $699. Can shoot all shells. Great reviews.

Fits my criteria anyway.

Look at the Beretta A300 (3" - $650) or the A350 (3.5" - $1000). Unless you hunt a lot of geese you probably don't need the 3.5" capability so I would lean to the A300. It's a bare bones gun (compared to the A400 anyway) but it shoots well and is extremely reliable.

The Winchester SX3 and Brownings Maxus are just about the same thing. I have friends who have A400, A5, and Versas. All fantastic guns. I know more people who have sold the previously stated 3 and bought a Maxus or a SX3.

SBE2. The last shotgun you will ever need. Buy used if necessary.

Anyone have experience with a Franchi Affinity or Infinity? I've been considering pulling the trigger on one of those (pun intended).

Stoeger. Great gun. I have one and it has been absolutely flawless. Shoots anything I put in it, really lightweight, points well, and I don't cringe at the thought of it bouncing around in the truck or boat. Well worth the price tag.
