An old trick I learned when I was younger for schoolers on Indian Creek was to get a clear baby or tiny torpedo and take the prop off. It's crazy the difference it made.

Double Take hooks and braided line will solve this.

Always use braided line and the double takes ended up in the legs and limited the action.

Before I started using the double takes I used the weighted Toad Toter hooks. Come to think of it, I did get a lot more strikes.

Rebel jointed minnow in this exact color.
My go to since I was 7 when my dad took me to Kmart and stocked my first tackle box.
I've seen more beautiful topwater explosions with this lure than anything else in the box.

In weeds - Texas rigged black worm, or a Zoom frog.

Lunker Lure brand buzz bait in chartreuse.
Preferably a well used one where the blade is very squeaky.

Second choice chug bug.

There's no way I could justify spending 30 bucks on a single bait that is mass produced and made out of plastic.

Pro tip:

When you get a new buzz bait, get an air compressor and blowdown gun. Blast the blade with and spin it at Mach 2 for about a minute. Check and re-apply

5 years worth of wear in 5 minutes.

Sometimes the buzzbait and frog combo is awesome. Fish will short strike or miss the buzz bait, follow up the a hollow body frog and get em!

Basically how I feel about the Rattilin' Rouge
of course it was cast and reeled by the unstoppable zebco 33 combo
