I've gotten more bites/strikes on a ribbit than any other topwater but the hook up ratio is terrible.

I bought one of these last year and it spent the pretty much the whole time tracking on its back.

I have one but have not caught enough fish to justify that purchase.

In choppy open water a walking bait such as a spook. In dead calm water nothing better than a popper. In shallow grass on surface areas Ribbitt w braid shines like no other....Never use fluorocarbon for topwater(it sinks) I always use mono .And always tie a loop knot for maximum action.......

Double Take hooks and braided line will solve this.

For short range strike zone like pad edges - Pop-R.
For a bit longer ranges - Chug-Bug.
For covering water and for schoolies - Spook Jr.

There are times fish want a prop bait. I have some ditties, torpedos and some other stuff for that. I really miss topwater fishing.

Killed the schoolies last year on a really small clear chug bug. On sale right now at Acad for like $1.99.
