Anyone on here sack rubbed their brick? If they have, how happy are y'all with the end product? Can you post pictures? TIA If anyone has pics of their mortar joints just dirty would also like pics of that too. Trying to decide between the two finishes.

I think our house is sack rubbed. Luckily not my sack. Here are a couple of pics. I will try to get a better one tomorrow. Our house looks , in my opinion anyway.

OP. It's best to find a good, and I mean good, pic of exactly the finish you want. Then meet with the contractor and brick mason to make sure everyone is on the same page. I've seen various degrees of a sack finish and often times it's not exactly what the homeowner had in mind. Also your brick texture will affect this as well. I'd also ask your contractor to show you a couple examples from past projects.

Good luck.

More important than the sack finish is the white mortar.

How big is your house and where are you building?
6 months start to finish is doable yes, but cabinets right now are taking anywhere from 3-10 weeks to get built. That will blow your 6 month timeframe right there if it's the latter for you

6 months should be no problem. If you in the BR area you will have issues with cabinet time frame but everything else is good.

as a house builder i can say cabinet guys STINK for keeping a schedule during "normal" times. now they SUCK!
regarding sacking: it ALL depends on the mason and no 2 are the same and no job is the same. DO NOT use hispanic masons. there work is ok most times and technically solid but it has NO artistry. use local guys, ie black guys. it is much nicer

We have queen sized old red river with a light sack. Of course sacking is subjective. What some call light is too light or too heavy. Find exactly what you want and try to get the same people to do the job for you. I hated my brick when it was bundled. Then loved it again when they laid it and put mortar. Then freaked as they sacked it. Then loved it when they brushed the some of the sacking back off.

We ended up buying a 2 yr old house. I am glad we found it rather than build on the lot we thought we wanted. Someone is building on it and the lot is really awkward with the required setbacks.
