I have the LC9 and someone is interested in trading for the P95. I don't know anything other than what I have read about the P95. I do know I HATE the trigger on my LC9.

Give me your thoughts!

Stick with the LC9. I've not heard good reviews of the P95.

It would really depend on what you plan to do with said gun.

If you plan to carry it, the LC9 will be more comfortable (singe stack) and lighter (polymer frame and thinner slide). If for home defense, the P95 will be better.

I'm not personally a fan of either one but other people seem to like them and they seem to be reliable.

If you're staying in the Ruger camp, I would give the SR series a hard look. They can all be had in 9, 40, and 45.

I have the LC9 and do carry it some. Mostly it's a truck gun. I was planning to see the LC9 and get a S&W M&P 9.

You're all over the place in regards to size.

The P95 and S&W M&P9 are both considered "full size" or "mid size" meaning they have a 4"-5" barrel and a full grip, both with a double stack magazine. While these are good home defense guns and some people carry them, the majority of people in regular clothing aren't fans of carrying full sized, double stack pistols.

If you want to stick with something that can be potentially carried and have the potential to act as a full sized pistol, I would check out the "compact" size, which simply means the slide and frame are both shorter. It will still be as wide as its full size partner since the magazine is still double stack, but the shorter dimensions make it slightly easier to conceal.

Then you have the "sub compact" size which can be seen as anything with a 3" barrel. I don't really consider double stack "sub compact" pistols, like the XD subcompact, as sub compacts. I would consider a sub compact to be a single stack pistol. This thinner dimension makes carrying the gun much easier. So the LC9 fits in this category.

You need to decide what size you are leaning and then make a choice from there. But I am also a huge fan of the M&P platform. It's one of my favorites.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I was referring to the Shield.

I've shot both of them a good bit. I used to have a P95. Great 9mm that was built like a tank. I traded it for an XD40 after a year or so. I also own a Ruger LCP. If the LC9 had been out when I got the LCP I would have bought it. I've shot a friends LC9 tons of times and it is decent for what it is. If you really want to carry, get the LC9.

I wish I could find one of those Ruger P Carbines at a decent price. I'd get a .40 and get one of the Ruger P series .40 pistols to go with it. They use the same magazines, and are a fun time at the range.

That would definitely be a good replacement for the LC9 if you like the feel of it. Many happy owners of the Shield are on this board.

I agree w/ bapple, as well. The LC9 and P95 are entirely different gun. This only thing they have in common are the brand and possibly the cartridge. For cc, the LC9 would be better. For a truck/home gun, I'd go w/ the P95 (as long as you like the DA/SA trigger, which I don't). As far as changing from the LC9 to the Shield for cc, that's another story. Shield is prolly the better gun, but I believe it is a little bigger than the LC9.

I have the LC9 and the SR9c. The LC9 is a great carry gun and nothing more. It's not fun to shoot, but it's probably the safest handgun on the market.(if there is such a thing) I'm ready to move on to a Kahr CM9.

This is the only reason I have the LC9. Very easy to carry, and I feel very comfortable carrying IWB. Not fun to shoot.

I don't buy into this very much. Just because the gun has 2 safeties (thumb and magazine disc.) doesn't make it "safer." If you're using a holster that covers the trigger guard the trigger will never be accidentally pressed. Of course, that is unless you use a holster that does not cover the trigger, in which case I would tell you to throw it away.

I've carried a Kahr CM9 (no safety) and a Ruger SR9c (I don't ever use the safety) for a while now. I have never had an accidental discharge of any kind.

Sometimes safeties tend to make people use them as a crutch rather than learning trigger discipline. Not that this is a certainty, but it can happen. Always know where your trigger finger is.

It's the manual safety and the very long trigger pull that makes it extremely safe IMO. I always recommend the LC9 to someone who wants to get started in CC. I'm ready to move on myself. I really want the CM9. I have an XDs .45, but it's quite heavy when loaded and I still haven't bought a holster for it.

That heavy trigger can actually be very hard for new shooters to put accurate shots on target. But I will say that it can teach them early on to not flinch since they have to concentrate so much. But this isn't ideal for a CC gun. Regardless, it's a decent choice.

You know how I feel about mine. Fantastic firearm!

I'll be doing an "update" video on it soon just like I did with my SR9c. It will highlight how I feel about it now versus how I initially felt about it. Not much has changed though - the damn thing shoots great and never fails.

I've watched your Kahr video a couple of times. My SR9c is by my bed. Not sure if I will ever buy a holster for it. I like it for home defense. Maybe the most underrated trigger on the market.

I made that about 2-3 years ago so my firearm knowledge has come a good ways since then. And my camera quality has too. That was back with my 480p camera.

Can't agree more. Very crisp and a very good reset.

Like I said in my update video, the only things I don't like about the SR9c are the magazine disconnect and the factory sights. But both of mine have been changed so it's right how I want it.
