Allison or bust cause if you ain't first you're last!

I haven't heard of any ranger problems but I don't know many people who have them.

Guys at work fish several tourneys and they all switched to phoenix boats. They each had a ranger, champion, and skeeter. All ended up with a phoenix. They love em

I know those are some pretty arse boats! Best looking boat out there IMO.

I'm strongly considering a Ranger bay boat right now, and have been reading a lot on them the last few weeks and have also seen no mention of the hull cracks.

Spoke at length with the factory guy at the show yesterday. Of course, he didn't mention anything either. He did explain to me how most boat builders fill the strakes with putty before laying glass. He said they make a "ponytail" with glass then run it through resin, making basically a piece of fiberglass rebar that they fill the strakes with.

Take that for what its worth.

Anybody got a 2310 they want to take me for a ride in??

A Phoenix or legend will be my next purchase . Either a 920 phoenix or v20 legend . I have a triton now but after riding in those there is no comparison . The fx skeeters have the absolute best ride IMO but I like the look of the other two . Rangers are still awesome boats but skeeter has surpassed them as far as a smooth ride . If you are in rough water the bass cats will have you pissing blood by the time you reach the other end of the lake . They are very fast and very nice but rough riding . Just my 2 cents

I have heard mixed reviews from some fiberglass people in east Texas and Shreveport. That being said they are amazing boats and no one has ever said different that I have talked to. They only spoke about the fiberglass quality and the trimmings being over rated at times. Fwiw they spoke very highly of Basscat and the interior works of Phoenix.

I don't know, but they're now owned by Johnny Morris, who owns Bass Pro Shops. Perhaps they'll start selling them there before too long.

Wasn't that great of a show to me.

The show was a big step back from last year. Not as many people and not a great exhibit list. Seemed like a little less care was taken in planning it this year.

Sportsman Show should be good.

If this is true, then you'd hear the same thing about Triton and Stratos too as they are all built under the same roof in Flippin.

Of course, there are subtle differences in the brands stringer system, etc -- but over the last couple years, those differences have become less and less.

Agree with the Bass Cat comment. Best hull on the market and the best warranty to boot. Ranger is still hoping people buy the name and the quality is simply not the same as it used to be. No fiberglass hull is indestructable but Bass Cat is pretty darn close.

Ranger bay boats and CC's built in the 90's are virtually indestructible. Can't speak for the newer ones.

Im not trying to brag (its nothing to brag about) but I have spent a day in the following boats:

Edwin Evers Nitro
Chris Lane's legend
Chris Zaldians Skeeter
Billy Mcgahgrens Bass Cat
Drew Benton (FLW guy) phoenix
Buddies Ranger commanche z520

I would rate them as follows:

best layout:

Nitro-very well thought out space usage

worst layout- Ranger/phoenix space usage makes you scratch your head

Best ride-Ranger-heavy and therefor not as fast but 66 and smooth over 70 and praying

Worst Ride-Bass Cat/Nitro got beat to death

Best Overall-Skeeter will probably be my next boat

Pro Gator if you want a great hull. And I just happen to know that there is a quality one listed for sale in Fort Worth on a popular boat selling website.

Coming from a long time Champion owner...

When I do it again I'm mostly likely going to go with Legend. Their overall hull quality and attention to detail rivals Ranger in my opinion. Open the lids and look underneath in most hulls and you can see bare or unpainted fiberglass. I've never been a fan of Ranger bc you're paying for the name and because I find a Champion rides better (my opinion). Haven't heard of any hull issues though. Ranger and Champ both fish great though, like fishing from a floating dock.

Most of the guys I know around here are switching to BassCat, they're fast but not that great in rough water. I wasn't that impressed with the Phoenix. I don't like the large lip between the deck and the top of the cap, guess I'm just picky, the few I rode in were slow and didn't get out the hole very good. I didn't like the Skeeter in big water either and I hate the way the transom looks.

My brother has a Ranger that's about a year old. All I can say is that he has not had a single problem with his. And he's not exactly gentle with it.

The Legend V20 is one fine looking fishing maching

I agree with this Guy. Have owned many boats and nothing compares to a bass cat. There NO company that provides service even close to what bass cat does. They go above and beyond. They are the only boat company to offer a free lifetime transferable hull warranty no matter how many owners there have been. I mean seem biased to but I know no one out there can match what they have to offer.
