I don't have any archery ranges around me and live in a populated neighborhood. How do I practice?

Get a target that can take broad heads and field tips. Shoot your bow. Don't be an a-hole and raise your bow above parallel to pull it back. You don't want to send an arrow into your neighbor down the streets leg while he is trying to BBQ.

I am actually in Atlanta. I would love to shoot in my backyard, but I feel it is not the best idea with the way my neighbors yards back up to mine.

I just did a google search. Panola Mountain State park appears to have an awesome 3D range. Or just go shoot at a shop that has a 20 yard range to get initial sight in. Bottom line is you eventually will need to find some green space to shoot if you are going to hunt with that thing.

I saw that, but I can only get out there once a week and I need more practice than that. I guess I could always fabricate something to put between my target and my wood fence in the backyard.

Shoot inside your house. Even if only 10 yards, make really small marks on your target to aim at. You will get to practice holding on the target and making a good release. If you can routinely hit a thumbtack at 10 yards you should be able to hit a deer in the vitals at 20. Then practice at longer ranges when you get the chance. Shooting a bow accurately has a lot to do with consistent form which comes with repetitive practice which can be accomplished at any distance.

Buy a cheap tripod, toss a bunch of plastic cups on the ground, have fun.

Shooting in the house won't work.

Put 2 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood behind your target. Put them back to back screwed together. If you hit them it'll blow your arrow up or you'll never get the arrow out.

I shot through my fence once about 20 ft into my neighbors yard. I quietly jumped the fence and got my arrow and didn't do it again. I've heard of people launching them on the draw and watching it fly without any idea where it came down. Kinda scary. I fixed my problem. Bought 10 acres and I shoot all the time now.

This is one reason I'm hesitant to shoot in the yard, accidents happen.

Mississippi actually has lot size minimums to shoot bows and even air guns. There should be a pro shop somewhere close. The Avery outlet here in Memphis has about 30 yards and an elevated platform.

not many pro shops in my area. Guess I'll be driving 45 minutes to a state park with a range.

Buy a bag target then pace off 20-60 yds after you sight in at a range and are grouping.
No worries.

I shoot down my driveway. Marked 20 and 30 yard spots. Shed for backup.

Alx did that when he lived in the hood. Locals were too scared to rob him, knowing that arrow could take them out silently.

I shot at 6am or so, before anyone was stirring.
