I had the dude go ahead and scrape the grass off and cover with a couple inches of sand. Now he will pour a 16" slab with 36" footers so my BBQ pit will not shift when I put an 8 lb brisket on it.

Dont forget to wet cure the concrete with burlap for 5 days. And saw cut joints every 20 ft no longer than 12 hours after concrete is placed.

ACI now recommends 13' max spacing on joints. Doing it in the middle of summer it's gonna crack up real good without that burlap.
