Those are more in the town of Palmer itself. Love the town and it has some good people. My favorite part of town is north on the Glenn Hwy, up toward Fishhook Rd. Lots of farms up there.

The only place I'd avoid is the Butte area. It's a bit more rundown and that's where the criminal element is more prone to be.

yeah I had noticed that on Zillow just looking around at what was available...

On the map it seems like it would be a cool area, but the hosues are ehhhhhh

What about the Wasilla area?

Are there areas to stay away from there.

I think some of the houses I like that way are in the northern area and the southwester part of Wasilla

Fairview/Knik, but that could have changed over the years. Anything North of the Palmer Wasilla Hwy would be good. Lots of new developments built there lately.

Trunk Road area of Palmer is beautiful.

Yeah that's the southwestern part.

They have decent houses in there...but it seems like a bunch of new pop up new building subdivisions for the most part

Those in Wasilla must be new developments. I'm not familiar with them, they must have been built in the past 10 years.

Pinnacle Mt Dr in Palmer is also near Springer Loop. It's not a bad location, easy commute to Anchorage since it's just South of the town of Palmer.

Edit. Kings Ridge is near Wasilla Fishook, lots of lakes in the area and a good place to live.

yup that's what most of the listings say.

What's the drive like from Mat-Su valley to Anchorage during the summer/winter.

I'm used to driving I-12 between Denham Springs and Baton Rouge. I know the weather conditions are different, but I'm assuming still stupid drivers ha

Not bad. They keep the Glenn Hwy clear and unless there is a really bad accident traffic moves fairly well. Driving through Wasilla can be a pain in the arse though, which is another reason Palmer is one of my favorites. I also lived in Big Lake for a while, and it was a hell of a commute, the worst part was getting through Wasilla.

I was looking at some houses out there through independent research and omg talk about some nice deals and beautiful acreage.

Think one of the places I was looking at was under 250K with 12 acres of lakefront real estate

Land in the Meadow Lakes/Big Lake area is very reasonable. Lots of Anchorage folks have cabins there, in Nancy Lakes and in Willow. Fishing season is hectic between the Little Su River and Big Su.

Will not be too bad in early may, but by June it will not get dark, though the sun will set. It's more difficult for me to deal with the light than winter darkness. Get very dark, thick curtains or you'll have energy until 1:00a. It's kind of cool, you can work a full day and play until 11:00 though.

Oh, and fall is heaven in South Central. Go up to Hatchers Pass in early October, you'll never want to come down.

Like I've told my friends and family...I have red hair, we are genetically superior at absorbing sunlight and converting it to Vitamin D at least according to science.

I'll make sure I test out that theory...more than likely unsuccessfully

Light only is bothersome for a couple of months. By mid August, things return to normal
