Meh, of all the problems in the gulf, random "bolts failing" is very low on the list. How bout every rust bucket on the shelf literally falling apart, operators using bese as their maintenance program, etc...

In 24yrs of working offshore I have never seen oil well bolts fail. lol

And I have never seen BOP bolts or riser bolts fail.

Who knows what happened to those? They may have over pulled too much on them.
