Maybe a little more thump on the already low recoil of a 223 and you will probably never have to worry about short stroking a carbine length gas system. Only setups I really prefer a midlength is if you are using a GI style drop in hand guard instead of a free floating one. I find the 7" carbine length M4 handguard doesn't have enough length for me to grip the rifle where I want to naturally. A free float rail over a low profile gas block? Then carbine/midlength doesn't make a difference to me. But, a Magpul SL handguard on the carbine length setup gives me just enough extra realestate so I don't feel so cramped if you want a drop in handguard. I love the Moe SL handguard, way better than the MOE which always felt way to fat for my liking and anything is better than the M4 handguard.

Rock solid, zero movement/wobble whatsoever. I'll give a range report to see how it holds up after putting some rounds down range.

I could have sworn someone here told me the Deadman stuff was crap.

Deadair* but yeah, I had a conversation with someone that they are not all what they claim to be. I assume they fixed whatever issues they had and are now decent enough.

Ya, thats what I meant. I quit looking at all that stuff, trying to make my wait shorter. Looks to be about a month before I get my stamps if it stays at 4 months approval times.

They're still pretty new, so I don't know if there's enough consumer data out there to determine that yet. I signed up for the email notification on Silencer Shop's site as soon as it was an option, and I just got mine today, just to give you an idea. But it's not like the company is a bunch of amateurs, so I feel confident in my purchase. As for the QD mount, if you didn't know any better you would think the can is direct thread. It's that solid.

Yes, when I watched the videos and the way it attaches. Very similar, to the Saker, the lockup looks awesome. I hope it performs that way, should make the poi really close for you. Its just what I could have sworn someone said on here. Dont really remember. The company/people certainly arent new so hopefully everything is all good. You need to post up a video when you get a chance.

I got my SiCos through Silencerco and haven't sent the Form 4s yet. I wonder if we get our Omegas in if I can sell my Saker to someone else (since I haven't sent the form) and just buy an Omega to send off

probably me. bunch of people complained about the mounting system and said there was no consistency as far as sturdiness. one of our distributor reps sent out an email saying that the sound tests they ran were disappointing as well. haven't shot one myself though

Here's a pic that may help your question about the rail. I have a 9" AAC barrel with the 8" SLR. Little under quarter inch of room between the can and rail.

I'm looking for a free floating hand guard that won't break the bank. Quad rail or key mod, around 10". Need it long enough to cover a mid length gas block. Not wanting to pay $200, would like to be closer to $100 if possible. If I'm paying $200, I'll likely go with the SLR. Yankee Hill seems to be ok for $150 or so, but I think it would be worth it to spend another $50 on the SLR.

Thoughts or suggestions?

I highly recommend MLOK or keymod over a quad rail, but if you are indifferent I have a practically brand new centurion arms quad rail that I took off my BCM upper. You can have it for $100.

So I have decided to purchase an AR but am completely over my head with all of the different options, calibers, sizes, etc. I want something that will knock down a big hog, but is still fun to shoot. Any advice on where to start.
If it is any help, I usually shoot a Remington 700 30-06.

You could kill hogs with a .223 just as long as you pick good enough ammo. Barnes 70grain tsx and black hills mk262 will probably be your best options for hunting rounds in a .223/5.56.
