Smallest MOA hologram but that may or may not mean best. EOTech uses a laser emitter and produces a pixelated reticle, takes some getting used to. Also causes problems for people with certain vision problems.

Picked up a 512.A65 for my current build.

I'd also be one step closer to finishing this rifle except I fricked up my shipping address and my muzzle device is on its way back to sender. Same with my BCG unless I can get it held or address corrected...

I like both. I would go somewhere and look through both. You may not like the eotech fuzziness. I have an astigmatism and the red dot looks really blurry indoors but crisp outdoors. If you get red dot ,go aimpoint

That cerakote looks good. What color? Stealth gray?

EOThingys are nice, avoid the 512 with the plastic battery compartment, if they still make em.

I prefer the Aimpoints. The battery will almost last forever and the Aimpoints are pretty hard to break. Dang hard to break.

LINK

A new entrant into the $250 red dot market with aimpoint battery life. Don't like the auto shutoff feature tho. And I doubt they are as rugged, but it's around $250.

Primary arms has a long lasting red dot also. I think it's around 160. I can't link due to being at work.

Alright so I have a few decisions.

Which handguard. I like these and are within budget:
Troy Alpha FDE ~150
Troy VTAC Alpha FDE ~150
Midwest Industries Gen2 SS FDE ~150

Also looking for triggers:
CMC Flat trigger 3.5 single ~150
Geissele G2S 2.0/2.5 2 stage ~140
Timney Comp trigger 3.5 single ~160

Any opinions?

The second pic is what I was referring to. The furniture and the receivers looks grey. Must be lighting. Can you post pics taken outside? And I may want you to do a rifle for me lol...

Geissele triggers in errthing. I like the flat combat trigger (sde).

Cant be the Troy guards or the Midwest. I have that Midwest rail on a 10.3 sbr (10" guard) and love it. It's light and thin...perfect for my intended use. You can not fit a suppressor under it though. It's ID is 1.3"ish.

They're sort of for slightly different applications, ultimately the same.

Hologram however has each pixel programmed into the glass in every spot, so if part of your glass gets covered in mud or snow or even cracks and breaks and you ONLY have 3% of your window clear it will STILL work and be accurate.

If a red dot gets damaged at all or covered up in dead center and you have to drop your rifle and either clean the optic or remove it and switch to irons.

That's the best way I could word it.

Until you hit your rifle on an object during a 3 gun and the plastic battery compartment breaks. BUIS saved the day.

Simple fix is be mindful of your equipment.

Oh and this polymer is the same type of glass-reinforced polymer handgun frames are made from.

I disagree. It is sold as an optic made for .mil and designed to operate in rough conditions, that design couldn't make it through a 3gun. EOTech has better/newer designs out there.

There is reason they offer battery compartment repair kits for the 512, it's a fairly common problem.

I personally like eotechs, unfortunately that one plastic part is poopy. Also, the older 512's have battery connector issues, they come unglued. I am sure they solved that problem though.

Well plenty do operate in tough conditions but that doesn't mean they are abuse-proof. I've seen people break ACOG and CompM4's in the field.
