Have a kitchen light on a 3 way switch (one in kitchen and other in a hall) – can I put a dimmer switch on the kitchen switch that is used the most?
Doing the work doesn’t worry me but wanted the OB thoughts
Thx

Yes. My grandparents have a regular light switch on one side of the living room and a dimmer on the other side. It can be done for sure.

Yes, it won't hurt anything. the other switch will still turn the light on/off, and the dimmer will set the brightness.

Thx for the answers, just wanted a sanity check (ok you don’t have to answer that) before I pulled cover plates, bought dimmer etc

There are actually dimmer switches for 3-way circuits. Just look for a 3-way dimmer.

Just make sure bulbs are dimmable.

Yeah, 2-way won't work.

Of course. As others have said get a 3-way dimmer. Put it on the switch that is easiest to get to. I have two in my house. One in the LR and one in the kitchen. There's a switch by the front door in the LR that I put the dimmer on and the other is by a hallway. In the kitchen I have a double switch on one walk and a single on the other. Dimmer is on the single by the table where I would want to just reach over to dim.

As others have stated, just make sure to get a 3-way dimmer.
Not sure if they have Home Depot in Canada but here's an example

Yes, but make sure it's rated for the lamps you are dimming.
