Has anyone ever shot one of these mythical creatures in LA? I've seen them maybe 2 times in all the hunts I've ever made.

Friend I hunt with killed one about 12 years ago near Venice. I've never seen nor killed on one the wing, saw that one dead.

I think I may have when I was a kid, or it may have been buffle heads. Hell, I don't remember.

I have on Toledo a couple of years ago. Thought it was a jack until the dog brought it back.

Buffles have that signature white spot on their head and short grey bill and their eyes are black

Been on one hunt that shot a Barrow's in Cameron Parish. Also shot a black scoter hen one time. Thats all i got.

In fact I may make a christmas morning hunt there. I really want to do a flock mount of drake and hen buffles.

Definitely have killed a few buffleheads. Goldeneyes and Buffleheads come from the same genus i think.

They do. Difference is the Barrow's goldeneye
