Wife, MIL, baby all crying. Dog went stiff for about 5 minutes each time - foaming at the mouth.

I just held him still and rubbed a wet rag on his head until it was over each time.

This happened a month ago.

The vet told us there was nothing we could do unless it was happening every couple days. Then medication was the only option.

Any advice? He's 9 years old. No history of this until a month ago. Diet is the same.

Tia

Anything I can give him here?

Sucks that my little buddy feels like this.

If you're that concerned go to a vet.

But there's a chance he could have a brain tumor and if so I'm sorry.

My Dad had a rat terrier that had seizures. His vet (who is also one of his best friends) told him that he could prescribe anti-seizure meds but the meds must be given to the dog each day without fail. A missed pill could make the dog very sick.

TLDR - there are meds but they must be given to your dog religiously and if not he could get very sick.

Not much you can do for a seizure except comfort the dog, stay calm, and get him through it. Happens again take him to an emergency vet.

take his temp, report back

seizures aren't as bad as you think, if you put him on phenobarb he has to be on it the rest of his life

This may sound cold - but I not taking a nine year old dog who is acting fine now to the vet in the middle of the night for $1000

I guess I was wondering if there is anything I can give him - short of calling coot.

He seems fine now. Just a little tired. Tail wagging.

What's average temp for a dog and where do you take it -- arse or mouth?

Not at all. I know of worse. Old coworker went home early and killed his dog before his wife could take him in.

Sorry to hear. I had to take my lab to an emergency vet on the Sunday night before Memorial Day for poisoning. It sucks.

It's not cold. It's the appropriate response.

It doesn't sound cold. It sounds reasonable and logical.

Natures choice - senior

Mixed with natures voice wet. Just a little wet.

Could dehydration be the problem.

He hasn't been drinking a lot.
