We had a yorkie (wedding "gift") that had them about every 3-4 weeks. Same thing..he'd get really stiff for a few minutes, then be wobbly for a bit then puke foam when it was done. Whole thing lasted about 30-45 mins. After a good nap he was as good as new.

We started him on the meds at about a year old. Put him down last summer at almost 7. Was beginning to have other health issues and complications from so much medicine.

Feel for you and the fam..absolutely sucks to watch it happen.

Edit: confirming above post, honey did seem to help.

Mrs house read this thread.

She says thanks and asked if Geauxt was "really" old?

I totally feel for you House. Mom and Dad got me a Golden for Christmas one year (sad thing is, I didn't want him...I believe a dog and his owner must be "matched". I usually let the dog pick me from the litter and I like to see how they interact beforehand).

Anyway, there was some issues with the bloodlines being too close for a purebred. He had multiple grand mal seizures. All the symptoms you listed plus loss of bodily control (crapped all over when he seized). He was put on phenobarb...but that didn't seem to work either. Dad finally couldn't stand it anymore and put him down.

I sure hope you guys find out what the cause of them are.

On the topic of dog food, I have a black lab mix who had really bad allergies, we could never figure out what it was...turns out it was a protein allergy in lamb/rice. Put her on Duck and Potato and all was good. She never seized..just licked her paws and had hot spots real bad...She's close to 15-16 years old now. She's on the Blue Buffalo Brand. It's expensive, but it works.

our bulldog started this several months ago with a couple siezures. Vet suggested we treat for epilepsy with phenobarb (no way i could afford MRI to see if had brain tumor). Frick that medicine, made my damn dog like a zombie, staring in to space, like a damn statue. Took him off phenobarb and he did fine for a couple weeks, then really went down hill, lost use of back legs, started having siezures on the regular. (loss of use of backlegs confirmed we had a tumor) and eventually quit eating.
Hope your ending turns out better than mine, good luck
