Looking for .357/.38. I've heard good and bad about both Rossi and Taurus

My Taurus .44 mag is going on 8 years old. Probably had more rounds down the pipe than any of my guns. People may talk shite but it's a very sturdy gun. Not a single problem.

Glad you posted. It reminded me to order some more seasoning

Neither. Get a used smith and Wesson model 10 on gunbroker at the same price as one of those

This. I haven't had it long, but I love mine. Only thing I don't like is that the action is a little long on the first pull if you don't pull back the hammer first.

I have a Taurus .357 with a concealed hammer and 2" barrel.
It's about 10 yrs old and never had a problem.

Have a old .38 that is about 35 years old that I never had any trouble with it. It was a gun that I kept in my truck and boat that I never would clean. Back then, I paid less then $100 for it new.

Rossi is now manufactured by Taurus. Taurus was once sister companies with Smith and Wesson and they freely traded technology and manufacturing advancements with each other.

Used S&W or Ruger over either option.
You may get the same strength and such with a cheap revolver but the quality control is where you'll see a difference. More bad guns slip through the cracks...

That's another option that I'm leaning towards, but really like the bigger .357

I have had a 6" barrel stainless Rossi .357 since the late 90's and it has been a great revolver. It even sank in a mud boat and never missed a beat.

Didn't Taurus by the Rossi factory? So both Rossi and Taurus are now made at the same place (making them essentially the same), or is Taurus a different factory?
My dad had an old Rossi .38, bought circa 1985, put thousands of rounds through it with no issues. Lost to Katrina.

1. Why ?? Even Ole Miss fans should know better.
2. Just because someone posts that his ___ revolver has been 100% reliable, ignore that fortunate soul.. No manufacturer makes 100% crap -- even Rossi & Taurus are capable of allowing one or two good ones to come through the assembly line despite their incredibly lax QA/QC programs.

I have a 357/38 Rossi 4" revolver. It's never given me a problem. It's easier to shoot well than than my S&W snubby(38). It's a good woods/truck gun for the money, but there are many finer guns out there.

I was trying to simplify it too much I guess. Taurus does not flat out own Rossi, but have acquired some of Rossi's equipment and tooling as they have a contract where Taurus produces some models for Rossi.

"Neither. Get a used smith and Wesson..."
This for sure.
I rank revolvers as follows....
1) Colt Python
2) Any prelock S&W
3) Any other Colt snake
4) Nothing else.
I admit I'm a big S&W revolver fan and own a few, however, the Colt Python is, IMO, the best production revolver ever made.
