Anyone else still in the blind waiting for the late flock? Saw plenty birds early, only got 1 grey to come in.

A bunch of mallards working in the sun late in the morning is the best thing in the outdoors, that blue on the wing and the bright green head is a thing of beauty. Good luck I hope you catch a couple bunches.

Couldn't agree more. Long week at the office and this was the only remedy.

Waiting on this is one of my favorite parts of duck hunting. The guys I hunt with are overjoyed to end the hunt as quickly as possible. The quicker the better for them, even if it's a strap full of spoons. Then they brag about how fast the limit was filled like they couldn't wait to get out of the blind.

If I'm going duck hunting I like it to last. It's too late to get on a deer stand, and a crisp sunny day on the water is a great way to enjoy nature. A lot of mornings that late flight never shows, or fails to work all the way in, but man when it does . . .

I know what you mean. Some guys started beating around the bush about 8:30 insinuating they're ready to go. I like to sit until 10 at least.

I'm with you. Now if teal bomb us early I'm fine with that but on a day that I don't have anything to do, i have no problem sitting and waiting. Even if they don't come.

It is a cool thing when it works out, but I'm not gonna pass on early teal and gadwall on the off chance the 930-10 am flight of mallards shows up.

My goal is to be done and eating a biscuit at the gas station by 8:00. By 9:00 I'm ready to get the show on the road.

I'm not for passing anything (except maybe spoonbills) just to sit there and wait on mallards. If the limit is filled with any ducks it's a great thing, but I'm just saying that if I've gotten up early and gone to the duck blind, I don't mind it lasting.

Life's too short to hurry through the good parts.

The other morning we didn't even get in the blind till 9 in hopes of shooting the late mallards. It worked.

You could not be more correct. My old man has been known to sneak to the blind about 9 and sit until 1 just to pick off a few mallards when it's obvious they've been feeding at night.

Hell, I usually pass on the mallards so I can shoot more spoonbills

Cant beat 10 to noon flight. Some days in our pit I will stay till 1 or 2 it the birds are still flying.

I've never really had much luck hunting in the afternoon. Only time I will go is when ice is beginning to thaw from being frozen several days. Can't beat em out of there!
