Yeah I gotta get a doctor to sign off on all my shite, even though I've been off anxiety meds for well over 2 years.

March 1 "background check taking longer because your fingerprint cards were rejected." No info on what I need to do, of course.

My wife and daughter have exactly the same story... Same time of the year too... I am guessing but I think they probably lost the original fingerprint cards due to the long time that was lapsed but were unwilling to admit it.

LMAO. I filed my application and all attachments online, went in to the LSP headquarters and paid my lifetime fee on the same day. From submission of application to receipt of license in the mail was like 14 days.

Lucky man. The concealed carry God(s) were looking over your shoulder. When I talked to the LSP CC office in September, they hadn't yet made it to May snail mail applications & renewals.

Just a quick update for those still waiting for their permit and wondering the time frame. I received mine today, and tomorrow is exactly 8 months since I mailed it in.

If I had to do it over again I would have taken off from work and drove to BR. It was a long wait and I honestly forgot I was still waiting a few times but well worth the wait, I just don't suggest it.

No doubt, that's the best way to handle the fingerprint issue. But why should someone have to drive to BR and get the fingerprints done at the LSP so the process will be more timely. In my case, I live nearly as far away from BR as one can be and still live in LA; I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to BR. In addition, the process is needlessly SLOW, inefficient and w/o any sort of accountability even when fingerprints are not needed. For example, I waited about 5 mos for my renewal this spring/summer. The renewal process needs only a new application, a new certificate and a copy of the driver's license; new fingerprints are not needed. In my experiences w/ my initial application and renewal, that particular unit of the LSP doesn't respond to email and VERY rarely answers the phone. I'm sure there are some good workers in the dept, but there also appear to be significant problem moving the bureaucracy. Another example: When I applied for my first permit, I called and talked to the dept after waiting 4 mos w/o an update; they told me I had been approved, but it would be another week before they could mail me the permit because their printer was out of ink. Amplify that type of bureaucratic attitude across the dept and it's no wonder wait times are so long.

My permit took over 10 months. I received the pay us notice about a month after sending in my packet both online and over snail mail. I paid and got the confirmation. Four months and nothing, so I start calling once every few weeks. Finally six months in, a trooper informs me that everything is good and the card will be printed then sent out. I waited another six weeks then called again. My prints and class certificate had disappeared from my packets, both online and regular mail. I resend everything and waited almost four months before my card arrived.

Mine took around 7 months. After I received the email that I was approved, I waited a month and no card. Called them and they said, "After you're approved, that's when we run the background check." Oh, okay. Anyways, it finally came in, and I've carried concealed about 5 times.

Ya know for all the trouble and money it took to get it I am right there with you. Ive had mine for about 5 months now. Probably have conceal carried like 10-20 times max. I cant bring it into work. When I go out with the SO or friends im usually drinking so cant carry then. When ive carried its usually on the weekends during the day when im running errands (when i remember).

We did - but LA SCOTUS refuses to recognize that we did. I'm at a loss of what else to do with JBE as governor it's another waiting game.

My ccw process timeline.
Submitted application 3/14/17
Confirmed app. 3/14/17
Mailed fingerprints. 3/16/17
Payed 4/1/17
Approved application 4/22/17
Received permit 4/27/17.

I submitted application online. Mailed my fingerprint cards certified mail. Friend who submitted his days earlier has still not received his approval. I must have hit the ccw permit lotto.

That and the "Gods of Bureaucracy" smiled on you. It's ironic how every now and then someone will get their approval amazingly fast while most applications wait for months.....

Three students from my April 8 the class got their permits within 2 weeks. These are the only students who provided feedback, but 3/3 is indicator that the system is working pretty well.

P,S. All three got printed at LSP HQ.

I'm glad your students were approved so quickly. Nevertheless, the system is not working pretty well for everyone. It may be working pretty well at times for folks who get printed at LSP HQ. The common thread in most of those who received their permit very quickly seems to be having the prints done at LSP HQ. If the system was working pretty well, folks who have satisfactory prints properly done somewhere other than the LSP HQ wouldn't have to wait so long. I waited 5 mos for my renewal and it didn't require being printed. Here's the "funny" part about my slow renewal process: AFTER I'd received my email confirmation of approval, I received a snail mail letter informing me my prints had been rejected. Obviously, the letter had been stuffed in the wrong envelope. Unfortunately, the letter wasn't signed by anyone and there was no email nor phone number to respond to. Some poor person probably was delayed many mos and didn't even know about it because they sent the letter to the wrong address and there was no way to tell them.
