Same guy that got me started when I was 15 decided to quit. We're still best friends, so of course I say, "If you can, do can I." It's been 4 days. Of course, my triggers are driving and hunting. I drove 4 hrs to come hunting with my dad. I haven't had much of a craving. My girlfriend sure appreciates it. Have y'all quit yet?

naw but i also wasnt an "addict" i only dip sometimes. Like i may dip when i go hunting saturday.. may not touch it again for 2 weeks. Then i may dip the next 3 afternoons by a fire, and then not touch it for a month. Never had and addiction to it, just do it sometimes if i want. Good luck though

i quit about 2 months ago. Killed my 10 +/- year streak. Feels good. The first couple days were a little weird, but you don't know what you are capable of until you try. I run a lot and immediately noticed a huge increase in my stamina and distance. I wish I would've quit years ago.

editt::: congrats, by the way.

I'm an addict. Thought it was only "as needed" but it turned into a can a day. I'd like to get it to where I can take it or leave it because damn I'd like a dip right now.

some people just have addictive personalities. I guess im lucky in that i dont. Like i said i can dip 3-4 days in a row. The. get busy with work and all and not touch it for 2-3 weeks. The go on fishing trips or hunting trips and dip a week sraight. Then not touch it again for a month. Im weird i guess lol. Goodluck to those quitting, your gums will thank you i am sure

you can still get out when the getting is good. Unless you're married and the wife just does not give a shite that you may/may not have a bottom jaw for your 20th wedding anniversary pictures. Just sayin'...

Started when I was 15 and I'm 24 now. Ready to kick it. I hate being prisoner to something. Nicotine had me. My mom always begged me to stop, but I know now that it had to be my choice.

Duck- You got this man. Power through and each day builds ammo for the next. After a few weeks you have no choice but to move on. Trust me.

B&B- To each his own I figure. You're still young. Maybe you'll wake up one day and want to quit, but until then, cest si bon.

I appreciate it, man. It's not an option for me anymore. Too many people have already told me I couldn't. I don't take too kindly to that. Luckily, my last can went out. I only go into a gas station to buy tobacco, so I just have to avoid doing that. No one I knew dipped mint like me, and I despise wintergreen, so I'll be okay for a while.

I quit for a year.

Got single, got a job, got stressed out, hunting season got here, started again

Unfortunate. I plan on quitting after my first big project wraps up.

Quit July fourth, made it 4.5 months and collapsed with the increased usage of adderall after midterms... Gonna quit again when I make it back to Houston for Christmas

FWIW, avoid your triggers if you can. Smokey Mountain fake dip got me through the toughest parts.
Days 4-6. And weeks 3-4 are always the hardest parts for me. After that it's a choice.
Saying no while drunk and on adderall are the hardest.
Eventually you have to make excuses not to, because you will make up infinite excuses to cave in

Gave up dipping and drinking almost a year ago. Both cold turkey. Never looked back. Mind over matter brother I would smoke when I drank. By default that is gone as well.

ETA: I was a can a day for 13 years.

Cancer sucks and no reason to do something that you know gives it to you.

Quit before it's too late.

It's a sad reality. Chances are that a good majority of us will die from one form of cancer or another. The less foreign crap my body has to process, the better off I am. I don't want to live forever, I just don't want to spend my last days in a horrific place like MD Anderson Cancer Center (Hell on earth, btw.)
