Some of the newbie duck hunters on youtube videos are hilarious or just downright disappointing if they hunt near you I guess. For those wondering why ducks don't really hit the usual spots on public lakes these videos explain it.

as far as I am concerned the biggest sins of waterfowlers....

1. Sky busting
2. shooting after hours
3. encroaching on another hunter legally there and already set up..(I have parked a boat in the decoy spread of a trespasser)....

Yeah, I haven't hunted public in a long, long time but I can only imagine what goes on now. A wise man once told me that "there is nothing a duck hunter hates more than another duck hunter."

easier in a marsh/field blind. Try standing next to a tree in the timber and tell me they don't flare of your face.

At that point, it's to late, at least that's what I'm told.

Newb here, guess I'm going shave and putting my calls on eBay.

I thought I knew what hunting close to somebody was until I hunted catahoula lake last week. When you see a duck you hear about every blind out there call at him.

I have heard the best way to stay warm duck hunting is to shave off all your body hair, minus your head. Helps with insulation or something...

You must also grt your truck full of mud to let people know you went duck hunting. Doesn't matter if you were at a boat launch

Oh, and I face paint for specks. Those frickers can see everything. If we are hunting ducks in the timber, I will just get in the shadows against a tree and keep my face down until the deal is sealed. Never had problems with them flaring on me. I can remember sitting in the cafe after morning hunts and 80% of the customers had face paint on. It was not a big deal. Haven't been in a couple years now though. I'm sure the DD crowd is all there, resplendent in their full regalia of Drake gear and designer L'Oreal face paint. As long as I got the end of my Wop nose and below my eyes, I felt like I was good.

I've never duck hunted. Or really any type of hunting really. But it sounds like fun so I'm gonna start. Any suggestions?

I have been duck hunting all my life and can remember the VHS Duck Commander tapes "TK and Mike". But seriously i was in store the other morning and two guys walked in with "Banded" Stickers all over there trucks, the dog had a banded sticker on its vest, and im sure they had banded stickers on the gun barrels. Face painted all the way. I ask where they were going. They said they were just gonna lauch in the Mermentau and find a spot. I just chuckled and said good luck with that.

My buddies always mess with me bc the only 4 things i say in the blind are

"Shut the frick up"
"Get the frick down"
"Dont fricking move they are coming right over"

and then "Take em"

They basically sit down the whole time while i and another are on the lookout. IMO you never need 4 people standing around looking.
