I own 2 .357 tauras's and they shoot great. I have had no problems with them at all. I have only shoot revolvers from taurus so thats all I can comment on.

Taurus gets a bad rap, and maybe deserved in some cases.

I've got two Taurus semis that i've put many rounds through and have never had a misfire and is quite accurate. Now, the trigger might not feel like a S&W or Glock, but it goes boom when i want it to.

Same here. Never had a problem with mine. It's pretty inaccurate but I am a 100% positive that is a user error

I would strongly recommend you get a 357. It can take low-recoil 38s if you choose but you also have the option to put a lot more arse into it.

My buddy got a Ruger SP101 and it is a great snubbie. You could also look into the Ruger KLCR. Both are great. Then again, it seems like your mind is pretty much made up.

Can I get a reason why you would pass?
Would venture to say his first reason is because of the reputation their semi-s have. Guarantee his second is because it doesn't have a name he likes. Having said that, its a revolver. Its going to go bang everytime you pull the trigger no matter if it was made by Unlcle Bhin Tua in Loc Do. Would howevr seriously consider a hammerless for cc as the hammer tends to reach out and grab clothing and skin which leads to a messy withdrawl which could lead to a mess on the sidewalk.

I like the looks of the Ruger LCRs. May put that in my list to get.

If i were to carry it on my person, it'll probably be on an ankle strap/holster.

They are very lightweight since half of their construction is polymer, hence, LCR, or lightweight compact revolver.

I would get the KLCR because it can take 357 also. It may have some serious recoil but the guy on the other end will like it a lot less.

I would defiantly get the 357. If you need it not going to notice recoil.

I bought a Taurus .38 special snubnose hammerless this year for the wif. I've put something like 100 rounds through it without a misfire.

It seems to me that the ppl posting in this thread who have actually shot a Taurus have no problem with them. The ones with negative comments don't seem to have much to back up their comments.

As hard as it is to admit, I have that exact one. I've had it for a couple years now and it just sits in the safe. My reason for buying it was I never buy just one gun in the same caliber. I have shot it a few times and never had any issues out of it. For a snubby, it has a HUGE grip on it that makes it harder to conceal than my 3" 1911. I also have the S&W airweight that is a good pocket gun due to its grip being about half the size as the Taurus.
ETA: I would NEVER buy another semi that Taurus made

I've heard some issues with the cylinder being out of time on some if their revolvers.

I picked up a smith .38 +p snub from a guy on southeast Texas hardly shot for $300 just so you know. Patience.

Taurus has been known in the past as a quality revolver company and has in my opinion gotten a bad rap for its semi's. I too have a Taurus semi with many hundreds of rounds through it without a single malfunction.

The Taurus PT1911 however has had really bad reviews and after holding one I was not impressed at all.

Good salesman. If they don't have what you want, they try to sell you what they have. I'd wait for what I want. I'd pay more to have it, too.

I got a .357 Taurus 4 inch bbl (Ruger Security Six clone) after my real Ruger Security Six got stolen. This is what I carry for black bear & cougar protection at my vacation home in central New Mexico.

Out of the box, my Taurus revolver was nowhere near as precision-machined as the Ruger, but the Taurus is very rugged and very reliable.

The Taurus was kind of clunky at first, but really smoothed out a lot the more it was fired. 200 rounds made huge difference. Got even better after 300. With 400-500 rounds through it, the trigger is just like my old Ruger when in single action. Just needs some break-in shooting.

Your choice of caliber (.38 special) is totally insufficient for all us macho frickers on the OB...we think 38 is barely big enough for squirrels. Regardless, .38 is all the police used for years , and it'll definitely put a hurtin' on someone.

The word "Taurus" will not work in this sentence.

I'm sure the OP will want to argue about this post as well.

When you ask for opinions, and then want to argue/debate with anyone who posts a negative one, it's pretty clear that you're looking for validation instead of opinions.

Which begs the question of why you'd come here and seek random opinions from people you don't even know -- folks whose expertise in handguns is also completely unknown to you.

Why not go to the Ruger forum, the S&W forum, or even the Taurus forum and ask? Or go to a LEO forum and ask. Or to Bayou Shooter.

No manufacturer makes 100% defective handguns. And Taurus is better than Kel-Tec in quality. And that's about the end of it.

If your life is only worth $300, get a Taurus. Mine is worth a little more (to me). Go for the Taurus -- you might get a good one.

Of course this also begs the question of why I bother responding to threads like this.
