Have you looked into KC Kayaks? Pretty comfy seat, easy to stand up in to give your arse a break, and you can put a trolling motor on it.

1. There is a product called a bunsaver that can be ordered from bass pro and cabelas for about 15.00. It is waterproof and inflatable seat cushion with a strap which you could attach it around your existing seat. It is great.

2. I have a fishing kayak and I liked it. But three years ago I got a 1648 Jon boat with a 25 hp two stroke and I like it so much better. I can stand, sit in comfortable chairs, haul tons of gear I don't need, bring a cooler and friends, and if I want to go somewhere a couple miles away it takes just a few minutes.

3. If you are married with kids and you go fishing by yourself it is a negative, But if you take the kids in your boat you may get a bj for fishing.

My only advice is to buy a plastic kayak not a steel or aluminum hull one. Can I get some upvotes for this?

The anchoring systems. Somebody above posted that they have 2 bc they do not like to move.

ETA. Why have 1 then, if 2 keeps you in one spot

I just realized I never hit submit on this earlier:

It's 2016. Do not buy a sit-on-top kayak without a lawn chair style seat. Wilderness Systems, Hobie (Vantage), Ascend, etc.

You want this:

Not this:

I have 2, one on each side. More options for anchoring points I guess. I never use both at the same time.

One on each side for different angles.

I don't have a fancy anchoring trolley. I have a thin rope that runs from the front to the back on each side. Just jam the broomstick in between the kayak and the rope and you've got an anchor trolley. Cheap and no need to drill holes in the kayak.

Best anchoring system I've used is the crab float under the leg method.
