Glue boards

This. My experience with old school wooden traps is, they are too damn smart. I can't tell you how many times they've ate the peanut butter or cheese and never set the trap off.

Just killed a Boone and Crockett rat on the playset in the back yard with a cane knife. Had a baby on his back, but it scampered off.

Got another giant SOB in a trap a few weeks ago.

I kinda liked having them in our camp. Gave us something to do when not hunting. Watched one climb up and down the microwave cord to get one piece of Mahatma at a time until he finally found the glue.

Reminds me of a CSB.

Was sitting at the camp about midnight around the fire eating marshmallows. About 6 of us in a circle.

I look at the seat next to me and a Damn rat had crawled up in the chair and was hanging with us like he as part of the crew. He would not leave for about an hour. Twas crazy.

Get a cat.

Seriously. My SO's parents were having rat problems. They got a cat, the little beast caught 2, and they never had problems again

We occasionally get rats in the backyard, our cat is like a sentry whenever they are in the area - sits outside whatever hole they've just dug.

I've used L-bar snap traps with a lot of effectiveness - shredded cheese or peanut butter.

Sounds to me like your house is overdue for a snake.

This made me laugh, only because I just saw a snake next to our garage yesterday evening. It slithered into the garden and I lost track of it. It's a little garter snake, but my wife is TERRIFIED of snakes and demands I try to find it today to get rid of it. I'm hoping I find it before she does because she will kill it (if it's still around).

I agree on the farm we have cats that handle this issue just fine.

Most efficient way is a cat. Just feed and water the car and they will be on constant patrol for anything. We kept one at my family's restaurant due to the building being by some woods. Never had a mouse come. To the building again. Not only that, the cat was known to hand pit bulls and rots an arse whipping if they came around. The damn cat lived to be 22.

hunt over a bait pile with your son's Red Ryder as others have mentioned, mouse trap set with peanut butter or a glue board/trap works best .

I concur that this is definitely a good time.......but depending on the size of the mouse/rat, the Red Ryder may not do the trick. I couldn't get any penetration on this one and had to step up to a better air gun.

Ive also heard that a cats scent will drive mice away. Don't know the truthfulness to it, but it seems legit?

I would advise against the bait boxes with blue granules if you've got an inside dog. I had a beagle that found it in the bottom of the pantry and was on the verge of death for several days. He ate bait, box and all, and had to spend the night at the vet and on medicine for two weeks.

Glue traps only for me from now on.

Old school snap trap along the baseboard where he was spotted. Bait with peanut butter or hard cheese. If you see one there is probably more than 1.

Find how they are getting in and seal up the hole. Also have pest guy out out those bait boxes around the perimeter of the dwelling.

This fricker will not go away! The poison bait traps are out. Obviously has not eaten enough to kill it. I have placed the glue pads out just waiting....I am currently kicking myself in the arse for this because I heard some squealing a few nights ago in the middle of the night but did not wake up enough to register it was probably the mouse. Go in the room the next day and the glue pad is just gone! fricker dragged it somewhere. Ever since then he's been a ninja!

Any advice other just than filling the home with TNT and blowing everything up? My only assumption is just keep trying the traps and waiting until the day finally comes.

I also watched a video today where people have rigged a 5 gallon bucket and put a can with peanut butter on an attached piping of some sort attached to the sides of the bucket to where when the mouse jumps to the can the weight of it turns the can over and the mouse plops into the bucket filled with water or whatever. I'm thinking of filling it with acid.

Step 1) Go outside

Step 2) Find the hole(s) where mouse can enter

Step 3) Close the hole(s)

Step 4) Buy a fist full of mouse traps and put them out

If you do not prevent them from entering the home, you're just wasting money on traps.
