...so I have a mouse. The house is overdue for pest control anyways, so the gentleman at the company said he will basically knock the insect control and the mouse baiting done for the price of 1 service. Probably more like 1 and 1/2.

inb4: be a man and do it yourself

Appointment is set for tomorrow, but any of you have DIY ideas for trapping a mouse in one night? May save me a couple dollars if I can at least get that phucker outta here.

TIA

Glue pads work really well, just put them where you've seen the mouse traveling. Odds are the pest guy is gonna do the exact same thing.

Bait with dog food or peanut butter in the center of the pad.

This.

You probably have more than one anyway. I have had one get caught, start screaming, then call the rest to the pad.

They get extremely smart though. I've seen them move bait. I had some put out and I came back to the camp thinking it was gone. I had some clothes on my bed so I went to fold them and put them up only to find they moved all the bait to the the bed under the pile of clothes.

Make sure to wear rubber gloves when putting out the glue pads. They can supposedly smell you on the pad and will avoid it. Also, your bigger issue is finding where they are getting in and closing it off.

I kinda liked having them in our camp. Gave us something to do when not hunting. Watched one climb up and down the microwave cord to get one piece of Mahatma at a time until he finally found the glue.

It's pretty fricked up but a struggling mouse on the pad draws them in like a magnet. Have caught as many as 6 on a single one, 4 of them being babies. If you catch one, let it sit a while.

hunt over a bait pile with your son's Red Ryder

as others have mentioned, mouse trap set with peanut butter or a glue board/trap works best

Had a mouse in the house last grinding season. Glue pad caught him on the second night.
Also, however you may decide to dispose of him, gasoline makes the glue pad not sticky anymore. Damn near burned my carport down

Just use the tomcat bricks of poison. I typically have to toss them in the attic once the temp drops.

When I hear squeaking, I wait about a week and put the poison out. By the next day, no more squeaking and all the rats are dead outside.

Can't argue with results, but every time I've ever used poison its either made them die in the wall or resulted in a trip to the vet.

On a related note, the typical quantity of warfarin in one little tray of rat poison is not enough to kill a lab but it is enough to make them shite green and make your girlfriend cry hysterically all the way to the vet's office.
