You're going to come on here and tout the exceptional craftsmanship of something you bought at the Wally, Wally, Wally, Wally World? Was it purchased with the EBT card? Guys just look at the wall thickness of the chests. 2" of foam has a higher R value than 1" of foam. Check out the lids. And the weight is from a dense foam. If you get away for any length of time, borrow one if you don't have one. "Cool" food after a few days will mean TP shortage for your crew.

If you need to spend $800 on a cooler, by all means, go for it. I do hear you get a sweet sticker with it.

Or, if you want, you can look up cooler reviews/tests online and see that the coleman extreme performs almost identically to the yeti. You can use the $740 dollars you save to put some pretty sweet hinges on it, if that's an issue.

Then I have to 5200 the holes because they threads get stripped. Again, I've only sprung for an SSI and a grizzly, the 5 yetis I have I won. I've actually won 8, a gifted the other 3. I won a throw back Coleman at CCA banquet that I do like BTW.

You can criticize Yetis all you want, but my Yeti (which was a gift) keeps ice 20x better than the $40 coleman I have.

Anyone have a bottle opener mounted to their icechest? It seems like they would just rip out. But it sure would come in handy

Even within the cheap boxes there are differences. I found that out once when I iced beer the day before a party. Two regular old cheap arse chests had almost no ice the next afternoon. My double top door roller with handle(rubbermaid maybe?) looked as if the ice had just been put in there. Too bad those fall apart so quickly.

Absolutely, and I am not saying you wont find a cheaperp ice chest that performs as well as a Yeti, you just wont find many.

I'm not criticizing Yeti's. I'll bet they're great. I'm mainly criticizing people who pay hundreds of dollars for a plastic box with some foam in it.

Seriously though, I don't have a problem if someone wants to buy one. But I would never pay that for a cooler. If someone gave me one, sure, I'd use it. But, like I said, before I bought my coleman xtreme, I read all the reviews and watched all the comparison videos. The yeti is certainly better made, but as far as performance, it's not much, if any, better than the coleman extreme.

The Pelican is USA made guaranteedww for life and is bigger than the Yeti size for size. At Pelly 45 is the same size as a yeti 65 inside. They are made of Stainless steel instead of Aluminum in the hardware. More insulation too almost twice, I checked them out.

I have 2 yetis one of those i would not have had it not been for my sister and BIL and their ability to not be invited to or be in my wedding.... I also have a K2. The yetis are the roadie, which is great for drinks. The K2 i got as a Christmas gift from my mom its a 48 or 55 which ever one they make. In both ice chest I have got beer to start to freeze. They come in handy at the camp for a 4-5 day trip with a long trip to a store. The yetis i bought for my groomsman through a friend who is a dealer and gave them to me at cost. I needed 4 and ordered 5 So now I have 2 cause i kicked my only sibling out of my wedding Ive been in bay saint louis for 2 years and have gone through 3 48-64qt coleman/igloo ice chest prior to getting these. Not going to have that problem or what I consider a wasted $150 or so dollars again.

[quote]I'm showing the 65qt Yeti weighs 27lb and the Pelican 65 weighs 35 LB.[

THE YETI 65 holds only 51.8 Qt. and the Pelican 65 holds
72.8!

Big difference.

I think this thread has turned into more of an obsession about what others choose to spend their money on versus a thread discussing the obsession with Yeti coolers.

Just got back from Acad. Igloo now has a model with metal hinges/latches and a metal cable instead of plastic to hold the lid up. Too bad it's not the kind that fits in my boat.
