I've had about a dozen birds for the last two weeks. Little suckers are draining the feeders every day.

Got about 7 here in N Hou (up from 2 a week ago) so put out a couple more feeders. I have 5 total. How far apart do y’all put your feeders?

I have one feeder and one dominant bird that sits in the tree watching.

Am I doing it wrong? Do I need multiple feeders?

As long as you are happy with just one hummingbird, you are doing it perfectly.

If you want multiple birds, you need multiple feeders. One bird can pretty effectively guard one feeder. Place feeders close enough that one bird will try to guard more than one, but too far that he won't be able to (i.e., at least three feeders about 8-10 ft apart).

I have 5 feeders & 1 bird that is chasing 2 or 3 others from 2 of the feeders

They fly off right past the other 3, I don’t know why they don’t go to those

When you get more birds, the chasing eventually slows greatly.

Mine are 15-25' apart.

I've gotten loaded up. I spent all summer having my morning coffee/Dr. Pepper out back watching the feeders and seeing one every once in a while to not being able to walk outside without seeing multiples. I'll have a few on the feeders, a couple pairs whizzing around chasing each other, and a few in the trees moving around chirping at each other all day long.

I have been keeping a single feeder out just waiting on them to come back. I saw my first one yesterday and am going to put the other two feeders back out tomorrow.

They are really showing up good at my house. Still not the numbers ive had in the past but it really is early. Maybe we will have an early fall. It was nice on the porch this evening.

They recommend to not use red food dye in the nectar. The red color from the feeder is enough to attach them.

We have 5-6 in BR. Really picked up in the last week. I have 4 feeders in the back and 1 in the front.

I like the First Nature ones from Wal Mart. 16 & 32 oz for 4.97 & 5.97. Easy to clean and has room for about 12 birds at the same time.

I’ve had good luck with the More Birds brand Ruby model 10 oz glass feeder that I bought at Wal Mart in Bossier. I currently have 2 out but am thinking about adding more.

I have about a dozen birds right now with 4 feeders but they don’t even put a dent in the liquid...they are too busy chasing and guarding and rarely actually drink. Feeders are spread across the backyard. Am I doing something wrong?
