If this is the first time, wait, give him the message that next time, he will be left. You might miss the first wave of the good fishing hour but the kids will dig it.

This is just insane. Is this some guy you just met down the bayou and felt sorry for and said "hey, want to take your boys fishing with me ?" Who doesn't have a damn cell phone?

This does sound a lot like a good friend of mine, Choirboy's, and 4lsu2's though and I've put up with his shite for over 10 years.

He is a Liar. He has one, you just don't know it. He is one of those secret cell phone people that doesn't give out his number.

Would learn a valuable lesson about keeping your word and being where you are supposed to be WHEN you are supposed to be there.

But sadly, you will be the "bad guy" if you left him and his kid at the dock...he will not take responsibility for being an hour plus late.

Either he showed up, OP is back in bed, or hes over there delivering his buddys front door an arse whoopin.

I cant stand people being late. 5-10 is no big deal, especially if you have contact with him. No worse feeling than walking to the duck blind as the sun is 3/4 of the way up, people around the area are shooting, and you have birds putting their brakes on as soon as they see you stomping through the water.

my #1 pet peave, i'm always on time or early drives me crazy when people make me wait. I'd probably wait b/c i don't take fishing that seriously but if it was duck hunting i'd left on the dot, unless i'd gotten a call.

If he is a good friend - how ever long it takes. Stuff happens and like I said, if he is a good friend he would not intentionally be late IMO. Definately dont let it ruin the day for you or the kids.

exactly and if they have kids, they should have gotten up earlier, it's not rocket science. Being late is just something i don't take well.

I get in trouble for being early..

Ive always been that way. I think its a form of OCD i must have or something. Im obsessed with mapping out routes and timing my drives and such. I could tell you pretty much within 3 minutes of when i will be somewhere most of the time.

That feel of going to a new hunting area and being in the tree a smooth hour before the sun is even thinking about coming up.

Even when I was a kid from day one, if I wanted to go I had to be ready to go when dad was, otherwise I wasn't going fishing/hunting that day.

Tested it a few times and got my arse left at the house. Zero mercy. It worked.

As a result, I have absolutely zero tolerance for my friends being late, kids or no kids.

My grandpa used to always say it was better to be 10 minutes early than 5 minutes late.

I was always taught that arriving early is on time, on time is late and if you're late don't even bother.

And when I say we're leaving at 5:30, don't show up at 5:30 with a bunch of shite to unpack and load in the boat and then ask to stop for something.

The man had ZERO tolerance for late. You didn't dare be late. I usually just stayed awake in my bed all night, in full hunting/fishing attire watching the clock.
