That I do.

Of all polymer designs, I recommend M&Ps the most. I may be a fanboy of Smith, but I haven't had someone shoot my M&P that didn't like it.

Then again, if you like steel framed guns, I think the Stoeger Cougar is extremely underrated. It's built on old Beretta machinery, is metal-framed and has the rotating barrel design. The PX4 is basically just a polymer-framed Cougar.

But going with a CZ or Baby Eagle isn't bad. Just learn your malfunction drills with that slide-in-frame design.

did you get a trigger job done to get rid of some of the grittiness? That was the ONLY reason I didn't get a M&P.

I prefer a gun that doesn't need a trigger job

That is the Achilles heel of the M&P. It's wearing an Apex Forward Set Sear and Trigger kit. I installed it myself and everything but $100+ to make it more shootable.

But I will say, besides my 1911, it is by far the easiest gun to shoot I have ever fired. Especially with that reflex sight. It is nearly perfect.

If only S&W would let Apex provide triggers for their guns from the factory...

I think if it had that factory, there would be no competition in polymer framed pistols.

OH! While I was thinking about the trigger, OP try and look at the Walther PPQ M2. That is a FINE weapon. The trigger and ergos are superb!

This may be BS. But I believe S&W distributes Walther. The reason why the PPQ doesn't get a lot of attention is because it is a direct competition to the M&P.

I haven't ever met anyone who wasn't taken back by the trigger. It is just 100% predictable, even for someone who hasn't ever shot a pistol.

I also shoot it better than any pistol I have ever shot. I believe that is a direct result of the ergonomics and trigger

OP, Shooters Club in Harahan has guns for you to rent. It isn't the best selection, but they have them

does the M&P40c have the ability to change out the 9 & .357 barrels like the full size from your review video?

kind of a cool feature.

Also, what price range would a 9mm barrel be?

How much do those apex triggers generally run too?

There is a Para Expert .45 at Academy for $550. That's a great deal. That's what I would get.

My first thought was the RIA 1911. Usually at $400

I have a mil spec Springfield arms 1911 that was 600 plus tax. Nice entry level 1911 in my opinion.

Yeah, I saw the Para at Academy, and I've seen the RIA, Canik and Tisas, which got me thinking about budget 1911s. I've always assumed I couldn't afford one. RIA seems to get the best reviews of those ultra cheap ones.

Yes they do.

Here it is on Midway for $65 (although it's currently out of stock)

The trigger I have is the "Forward Set Sear and Trigger Kit" from Apex. You can get just the internals or just the trigger, but that kit comes with a new striker block, new trigger, new sear, and different trigger and sear springs. This yields a 4-5lb short pull with a good reset.

$165 for the kit with the aluminum trigger, $130 for the kit with the polymer trigger. If you bought just the trigger, you would remove that hinged feel that the factory one does. But the whole kit is incredible. If you haven't seen my reviews already, go and see what the rave is about that trigger.

And I agree with Hammer. I tested his pistol and the Walther is pretty damn awesome. I also have a review of it on my channel for those with the time and curiosity.
