We got 2 ranchers for work on the farm with stock grips. Work fine as hunting bikes too

I had a 4-wheeler that burned when my buddies shop burn. Was in for just a oil change. I was dead set on getting another 4-wheeler. My wife and buddy who owns the shop talked me into looking at the (at the time) new midsize Ranger.

Ended up buying it and so glad I did. So much more versatile than a 4 wheeler. It was only a $1k more than the 4-wheeler.

I've got a 800 Ranger and I wouldn't ever consider going back to a 4 wheeler. It's way too much more comfortable, hauls more, and will go through just as much rough stuff as a 4wheeler. You do however hAve to watch it on tight trails due to its width. Which is a plus at times too because now all those 4 wheeler rutted trails you'll be able to just straddle their ruts instead of fighting them. There's no doubt 4 wheelers can be great machines but there's only 2 cons to a SxS vs a 4 wheeler and that's cost and weight. You can get a 800 Ranger with power steering here for $8999 and that's no higher than lots of the bigger 4 wheelers and the weight is a non issue due to a Warn winch being on the front. Go with the Ranger bud. You'll never regret it[URL=LINK ]

I could see trail riding where there's a good bit of side to tilt that a 4 wheeler would be way better. It's just easier to shift your weight around the center and lean into each tilt. It's really how many people do you want riding it. If it's 2 or more then SxS all the way. If it's one person and you're into trail riding at speed I think you have to go with a 4 wheeler.

That's a good point Gaston, but most folks fail to remember that most SxS's stance is wider than most 4 wheelers which helps make them more stable. I know when I had my Rhino I could take it on more hills that a lot couldn't take their 4 wheelers both going sideways and vertical. Can't say though on the Ranger since I really only use it hunting and riding with the family or buddies and we don't do much rough riding

Preciate all the advice. Been looking at different specs and talking to people throughout the day. I think I may have a under the table type deal on any new Polaris so I'm going to see where that goes.

Yep our 900 ranger is my first sxs and I love it. I still love fourwheelers, but for hunting and just genuine comfort, get a ranger. You can't beat it

I don't like getting wet when the rabbits bail into the drainage ditches.

I wanted a new one but I got my feelings hurt when the guy handed me the final price. It's hard to pay $12K for a fourwheeler. I was looking at the Kawasaki Brute Forces.
