No, not getting stuck in the mud. I'm talking about getting every last mile out if it without significant or uneconomic maintenance. What kind of truck was it and what engine? How many miles did you get out of it? How many miles would you expect to be able to get out of today's trucks with timely and regular maintenance?

Eta: both gas and diesel

1989 ford ranger, 223k miles. Power steering pump was out, electric windows and doors didn't work, and burned about a quart of oil every gas tank. One day it just coughed sputtered and died as I pulled into my apartment parking space. Had a guy offer me $900 as is, so I took it.

I have an '06 Ridgline (Insert joke here) with about 265k on it. Basic maintenance only, including 2 scheduled timing belts. The timing belts run about $1k at the dealer. I am going to take it to Kansas in a couple of weeks.
I hope to get something new in the next 6-9 months.

I'm hard on trucks. Lots of off road use. But I got 240k from an 06 F150.

A buddy of mine has a 1998 2wd Yukon. He has put 350k on it.

We have an xc90 at work that's over 300k miles. Probably 90% of that is bouncing around Baton Rouge surface streets with a minimum wage college kid driving it like it owes him money.

I'm pretty meticulous about maintenance on my vehicles, especially on the 6.7 on account of fear.

I go through rear tires on the Jag pretty quick, though.

My father has 98 explorer he's put 500,000 miles on. Nothing in the damn thing works except the engine and cigarette lighter. He uses a plug in heater to defog the window. Door handle and lock are broken on the driver side so it's always interesting seeing him get in and out. It's a death trap. He just uses it for hunting these days.

2008 Chevy Z-71 hit 220k miles this week. No major problems yet. Replaced master brake cylinder has been the only costly repairs. Belts and plugs are to be expected to replace. Starting to look like the computer is messing with the truck now so that has me worried. I plan to run her til 300k which should be another 2 years.
Honestly, didnt take the best care of the truck. Chevy just made a good one.

Input needed please OB...sorry for highjack
I have a '96 Chevy Silverado 1500, 5.7L vortec, just flipped 200K, oil changed every 3K, runs great
How many miles can I expect out of it?
Any suggestions on things I can do or should do at this point to extend its life?

240k on my f250. No maintenance out of ordinary. A lot of that is farm mileage too, aka stop every 100 yards to open pipe drops

I put over 240K on a 2003 Silverado (small v8, 4.8L) and told my son he could have it for whatever he wanted to pay. He gave me $1000.

He has it over 250k now.

I had to replace the rack n pinion. He has changed the fuel pump. It's still a good truck that he hopes isn't "run into the ground" for several more years. It might get to 350k.

I have 225k on my 03 2500 gasser. Transmission quit this week, but I bet that thing has logged more miles pulling heavy than most any other gas burner out there. It's been worked to death. Hoping a new transmission will give me another 225k miles of abuse.

Nah big green has been gone. I sold it and got a very heavily used 3/4 ton from family. It was meticulously maintained but 220k miles of tractors and round bales did the tranny in. Even with a shot transmission it's still a better truck than the green one was. I can actually work on this one. It's completely 100% bone stock. The green truck didn't have a factory part left on it. EVERYTHING was modified/changed out on that thing.
