re: handi rifle

Best ballistics .35 Whelen(what I shoot)

Most loved 45-70 (have a Buffalo Classic)

Light recoil .444 (shot a few)

Lightest Recoil with good ballistics .35 Remington (owner of the property where I hunt has two of these)

re: handi rifle
Same in La. Over 35 caliber exposed hammer rifle. Or something like that. Don't remember exactly how it's stated.

She's got my 444 ready if he'll come back out in daylight

re: handi rifle
The .35 has plenty of knock down power and by plenty, I mean a whole hell of a lot.

La Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries.

I bought one for my son and he killed a doe at close range, and I killed one at 140 yards with it.

Pretty sweet little non-kicking gun for short shots.

re: handi rifle
.35 whelen is prb best but i have the .45-70 and have killed several with it. Farthest was roughly 150 steps. Needless to say if you put one on the money with it they arn't going far.

My son talked me into buying him one of these the day I was strung out on pain meds after my lasik surgery. We both love shooting it.

OK?

NasCar said it's not primative.

I asked where he heard that.

re: handi rifle
My bad. Little misunderstanding.

I like the little 44, but I'll probably get a 35 before next season now that my boy will be old enough to hunt by himself soon.

re: handi rifle
Legal Primitive Firearms for Special
Primitive Firearms Season include:
1. Rifles or pistols, .44 caliber minimum,
or shotguns 10 gauge or smaller, all of
which must load exclusively from the
muzzle or cap and ball cylinder, use
black powder or approved substitute
only, take ball or bullet projectile only,
including saboted bullets, including
primitive firearms known as “in line”
primitive firearms, and
2. Single shot, breech loading rifles, .35
caliber or larger, having an exposed
hammer that use metallic cartridges
loaded either with black powder or
modern smokeless powder. All of the
above may be fitted with magnified
scopes.

Had to look it up

re: handi rifle
I've sighted in a bunch of these. From what I've shot, the 45-70's whot tighter groups in the H&R Handi Rifles.

In other guns like CVA's, the 35 Whelen shot much better.

I have no idea why, but that's what I've noticed.
