Do all beaver colonies make a big hut? I'm thinking of pushing a PVC pipe into it when I find it and pump some smoke into it and then shoot them when they come out. Assuming I find a hut, that is.

In another couple of months use a castor mound and a 330. I'll look later and see if I have pics. If not google can get you set up pretty well.

I don't know about your area but beaver huts are rare in my area. More likely to find bank dens. It looks like a 14-24 inch hole in a bank. Blocking one hole is a waste, likely to have 4-12 exits. 330s or snares are easiest. In the spring castor mound sets make them stupid, if they haven't been trapped before.

The number you are looking for is infinity. If there is one beaver then there are infinity number of beaver in a pond, I know this to be a fact.

Congrats man, I'm going to start after them in 3 weeks. The first one is a rush. I'll leave those big footholds in deep water to you guys. I'm a 330 man through and through.

you gotta really pound them into submission. Although if you pound them right they won't ever leave...

2lbs of Tannerite on the spillway of thier damn will open it enough to get there attention...if not... Pound there nest with 1 lb. tannerite at a time...about the fourth time they come out and you can pick them off with a shot gun... has worked on three different occasions for us.
