This issue is just beginning. the more gates that come up over places that have been fished for decades, the more and more this topic will get talked about

Anyone have a link to the map for private and state/fed land?

I don't know if you can find a map. I hope I am wrong and someone can post a link. Basically from my understanding the way Louisiana has it is a natural body of water can not be owned and is public. A man made canal is private and can be owned. Talking to fisherman from other states if a canal connects to a public body of water then the canal would be public. This isn't the case in Louisiana. Also in Louisiana land doesn't have to be fenced, gated or have a posted sign on it... So, you can be fishing a canal with no gate and no posted signs and legally receive a ticket for trespassing.

Who has the authority to run someone out of a canal , bayou or any body of water?
Could it possibly be someone taking questionable authority in their own hands without legal justification. How do you know?
Do Game Wardens patrol these areas for the land owners or lease holders ?
Do Sherriff Deputies have nothing more important to do with all the crime on the streets ?
That's the only authorities out there other than the Coast Gaurd...
I mean who with authority really cares enough to justify their salary that's being paid by taxpayers by the way , to run the same taxpayers out of a fishing hole?
Putting gates up involves putting pilings down that requires permits.
Damming a canal I'm sure is another whole issue that I'm sure takes an act of congress.
So how do you know that a gate on a canal is legal and justified?
There are way more questions out there and way too few answers. At least answers from someone that has the power and authority to justify a legal answer to this issue.

Most here are aware of the FB page that was created. It is still gaining traction and also it seems a plan is coming together. This is a comment an active member on the page posted on another forum.
Had a meeting last night and elected a 4 member Board of Directors in order to file for the Coalition's 501-C designation with the State. The name was changed from Louisiana Sportsman United to Louisiana Sportsman's Coalition to avoid any issues with LSU over their brand... and this will have to be a coalition of many groups and users that will need to come together for a common cause. Our application is being sent to the state and the IRS. Will probably take about 6 months to get this finalized, but we can operate as soon as they receive this. We will need to get a large number of folks and groups to come aboard, because politicians look at one thing mainly... numbers. We will try and keep everyone informed on the facebook page.

Louisiana Sportsman's Coalition
They need to get the support of the guys that live in the Mississippi Delta that can't fish the back water when the river floods due to the water being on private land. They will need the support from every sportsman in La to get anything done any way.

Any thoughts about trying to connect with fisherman at the boat landings about this Coalition?
Passing this info on to tmn't directors so they can mention this at weigh ins or pre tmn't meetings etc.
Just a thought to help get the word out...

Very good thoughts. Maybe also include a map showing how much trespassing they are about to do when they launch the boat and ride off.

So they are to turn a blind eye to the crimes being committed on the water? Is this because you are white and own a glitter boat?

What does race and the kind of boat you fish out of matter?

Nah I love to see you bass holes out there wiping them down after a trip. It reminds me of a car wash in north Baton Rouge, except with a different kind of criminal.

Oh so you also have a problem with people taking care of their stuff? gotcha
Posted on 2/18/16 at 7:00 am to civiltiger07
No problem at all. I just find it humorous that I can't distinguish the race of truck and boat owners at pigeon landing any longer based soley on looks. You got chrome or black out rims brah?

I see some of the morons from La. Sportsman have made their way over here...
